Also, it's sold only in very high end supermarkets, so forgive me, i will use soy milk, but ill use normal cheese and I honestly feel like guilty bout that because it's only NOW that I realize this channel is fully vegan. do you boil the carrots first or do you put raw carrots in the blender?
@artypyrec4186
Жыл бұрын
@@samtuc I sauté first, adding a fat helps with emulcification for a smooth sauce and for adding cheese later but I add water to loosen it up in the blender. Raw vegetables are gritty and as they soften, will thicken the sauce, without turns it into a dense brick. Prefer to cook first, so I know exactly how thick the veggies based sauce is then I can get the right consistency for the cheese sauce later.

A lot of vegan from cultures such as my self (middle East) and I assume many others litteraly can't digest the amount of fat in classic American dishes because our bowels are just not able to handle all of it (aka fat malabsorption). it's really common but still discussion around fat consumption is black and white, with it's health food or it's comfort food with enough fat to give an elephant the equivalent of 2 hours on the toilet. This is a vegan channel, you can always assume she’s using vegan products…

I’m just confused to why she said it’s “adult” mac and cheese. Why is it only for adults? Is there alcohol? Why can’t kids eat it?
@Mel-vs4po
Жыл бұрын
@anonymous She says that because in most western countries it is generally understood that mac and cheese is primarily a dish you feed to children. Of course adults still eat it too, but it is primarily a children’s dish because it is very plain and suitable for picky eaters and toddlers. She calls this version Adult mac and cheese because she is essentially dressing-up the traditional “plain” children’s version with new flavors and spice that now make it more appropriate for an Adult palette. I hope this clarifies.

I'm curious, does mac and cheese only have one specific taste? every mac and cheese tastes the same to you? you can add whatever you want to mac and cheese and it will still be mac and cheese. there's different variations just like there are with every single other dish. make it how you want to but don't make a blanket ruling for the rest of the world that it can only be made one specific way because that's the "right" way
@aninditabhaumik6844

@@zenigami why even call it mac and cheese....
@zenigami
Жыл бұрын
@@aninditabhaumik6844 because at its base that is exactly what it is is. mac (pasta) and cheese. doesn't mean it has to only be pasta and cheese. it can be any kind of pasta shape, any kind of cheese, with any kind of seasonings, and any kind of added ingredients. it's all still mac and cheese in the end. are you implying mac and cheese has to only and always taste like boxed kraft or homemade with breadcrumbs? food doesn't work that way. if you prefer that, that's fine. but that doesn't mean any other recipe or variation is disqualified because it doesn't fit your limited classification of what a food "should" be
