I am the only one here that actually liked Venom's design in this film? I feel like this Venom, although much smaller, had a way more menacing appearance than Hardy's version (in particular the eye design and webbing patterns on the costume). Also the CGI for the most part still holds up extremely well for a 16 year old movie!

My biggest issues with venom in this movie isn’t really his appearance, It’s the not using “we” when talking, constantly showing Eddie’s face, and the constant screeching. I didn’t like Eddie’s actor but that’s different

In 1984's Secret Wars Comic Series was where we first saw the black costume. This took place on the planet called Battleworld where Spider-Man damaged his costume in battle, he then he discovered a machine thought to be a fabric replicator, it produced a black sphere, which then engulfs Peter in black goo, eventually forming his suit while augmenting his powers/abilities. It was later be revealed to be a symbiotic life form.

From what I understand the director of the movie, Sam Raimi, did not initially want or have Venom in the script for this movie, it was only after much poking and prodding from the studio that he reluctantly added in the Venom storyline. There's a bit of a funny thing fans have noticed in these movies, MJ, a traditionally ginger character, is played by the naturally blonde Kirsten Dunst, whereas Gwen Stacy, a traditionally blonde character, is played by naturally ginger Bryce Dallas Howard. I'm not sure if this next bit would be spoiler or not, on the one hand it's about things that were planned but never ended up happening, on the other hand it's things that could be mentioned as being parts of the characters histories and such should we ever see them again due to the Multiverse Saga and such. Anyways, Tobey was originally planned to have a Spider-Man 4, and we know a lot of what was supposed to be included in that movie, but it obviously never ended up happening. Bruce Campbell's characters were all intended to be revealed to be one guy, the villain Mysterio, and the villain of the movie was from what I understand supposed to be Vulture and John Malkovich was rumored to be the Vulture, IDK if it was ever confirmed or not though, I have heard some things say another character was supposed to be the villain instead of Vulture, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. There's a lot more out there about what Spider-Man 4 was going to be, I don't remember most of it though, but it's interesting to see what could have been.

Apparently there was a deleted scene of Peter trying to reach Harry at Oscorp before the Theatre scene. And another deleted scene cut out Bernard (the butler) revealing the truth and just had Harry pick up a picture of him Peter and MJ, and contemplating helping Peter Also, there was a lot of interference in the film. Raimi was pushed to put Venom into it, which led to Harry getting Amnesia so they could essentially pause his story to make room for all the Symbiote and Sandman stuff. Yeah, I would say that the butler didn't say anything before because he probably was not fully aware of the extent of what Harry was doing to avenge his father. He probably did not want to tell Harry what he knew after attending his father's wounds to avoid hurting Harry even more (revealing that his father was this crazy villain who got himself unalived). On another topic, I think the reason why I don't enjoy it as much as the previous films is because there were a lot of things going on plot-wise: Peter & MJ's messy relationship, introducing Gwen on top of that, Peter with Venom, Eddie and Venom, Sandman's storyline, Peter and Harry, & Harry and MJ. By contrast, the previous one was about Doc Oct, Peter and MJ's messy relationship, Peter dealing with a lot of stress and guilt, & Harry's revenge. At least this is what I felt to me.

She's a hypocrite. Saying that was their kiss when she did it with John Jameson, the son of Peter's boss, who's she's engaged to. Peter did that as an act for the crowd as Spider-Man. Just because he kissed Gwen, doesn't mean he loves her now instead of MJ. How would she think he feel if he went to check up on her as Spider-Man, if he didn't have an identity crisis, and see her kiss John like that?

@@mikemon1995 MJ isn't a hypocrite. She was in a relationship with John Jameson. She was in a relationship with Peter when he as Spider-Man was kissing Gwen who Peter wasn't in a relationship with. MJ wasn't even sure Peter was Spider-Man when she kissed her fiancé. She only kissed him that way because she wanted to know if she felt the same way about John as she felt about Spider-Man. So why did Peter kiss Gwen that way when they weren't even a couple, knowing MJ was watching them? Especially as Peter had plans to propose to MJ. His brains were in his tights! One thing I can’t stand about Peter in these movies is that he’s in college and he’s still getting picked on like he’s in high school. In the comics, after he gets his powers he grows out of being a loser, but in these movies he’s always just annoyingly immature and wimpy (I’m not exactly James Bond myself but come on). The next films have kinda the opposite problem when Andrew Garfield is too cool to be believably bullied but is perfect when he becomes Spider-Man.

I just think retconning Uncle Ben's death to make the killer Sandman was such a stupid and bad move. The ENTIRE reason Pete becomes Spiderman is because his choice to let the thief go ("I fail to see how that's my problem") ended up resulting in Ben's death, and "With Great Power comes Great Responsibility" becomes the words he lives by. This movie, i like it, but it had too many villains, and i know Peter's life is always messy, i.e "the Parker luck" ( It really is a thing) but i also get that Sony really had no other options regarding IP. All the had was the Spider Man stuff. If Sony had the Fantastic Four rights instead of Fox at the time, they could've been helpful, and already interconnected in the same universe and Venom could have been the main big baddie and just had Harry instead of Sandman. or Vice Versa and go with just Harry and Sandman, with Marko being more of a guy that needs Peter's help, yeah he's an escaped con, but he's also panicking and obviously terrified.

Personality don't think the movie is as bad as people say over the years people have thrown to enjoy it. Sam Rami did not want Venom in this movie instead he wanted to focus on Goblin junior lol who i think is the Hobgoblin in this film even though i never got that vibe from it and of course Sandman who does feel underdeveloped because of the focus on Venom. Very much studio interference. This could be why the whole Venom and symbiote thing was very random in this movie which shows that it was thrown in at the last minute like the symbiote happens to land right next to Peter and MJ. Pretty much they had to find a way to write Venom into the story. In the comic's there's a whole story about this with Peter first finding the symbiote in Reed Richards lab in the eighth issue of the original 1984 comic book series Secret Wars. Peter and the others hero get back to Earth and Peter keeps wearing the Black Suit for a while until he finds out that it's a symbiote when visiting Reed Richards again. The whole Church Scene with the bell an Eddie is pulled right out of the Comics though. I do love the Black suit (And it's theme) it's pretty much just a black version of the Sam Rami suit which I love while in the comic's the black suit had a large white spider symbol which looked amazing and the suit itself was just black with no webbing like we see on the Sam Rami suit, webbing itself is pretty unique to his suit. Venom himself was pretty, well it was different I guess he wasn't this large scary creature who has both a dark and funny side instead he was normal sized just like Spider-Man. The Venom movies do a much better job at this with Venom he's funny enough a sweetheart at times in the comic's lol Spider-Man 4 was meant to feature an overweight version of Mysterio with a pretty solid comic artistic suit. The best part was Bruce Campbell was set to be playing him which would be pretty funny as this kind of confirms that Mysterio techinally showed up in all the movies as different actors to maybe spy on Spider-Man. This film would also feature Vulture a more comic artistic version with his bald head and more organic outfit than the more thrown together alien tech of the MCU version which fits with the narrative to create a pretty unique version of the character play by Batman himself lol Hobgoblin in the comic's was a very interesting character his identity being teased so many times but because stories changed hands the writers kept teasing with them all having different ideas on who was the Hobgoblin. It's a really cool idea but my first introduction to this character was the Spider-Man animated series with Mark Hamill voicing the character. Sandman is also a fun character but i never got too invested in him in any mediums which is a shame but his appearance in this film is very comic accurate all the way down to the green and black shirt. Gwen Stacy does play a big part in Spider-Man she was Peter's first real love. Technically MJ showed up first in the comic's as she appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #25. Granted, her face was covered so it was more of a cameo than an appearance. Gwen Stacy showed up shortly afterwards in The Amazing Spider-Man #31 full appearance too, not just a cameo. Mary Jane Watson shows up again in The Amazing Spider-Man #42. Very last panel of #42, but still, that’s her first full. In the Sam Rami version and the MCU we pretty much skip Gwen Stacy but who knows maybe she'll make an appearance in the MCU sometime maybe at College.

MJ's relationships in films: First film with Eugene Thompson, barely liking him back, and breaks up with him after graduation. Then be another uninterested relationship with Harry Osborn, then cheats on him by kissing Peter as Spider-Man after saving her twice, and ended up breaking his heart when catching them holding hands in May's hospital room. Second film with engaged to John Jameson, tried to kiss Peter to know something before her wedding day, and leaves John embarrassed and humiliated to be with Peter knowing the truth about him being Spider-Man, knowing the risks their relationship will have in a double life. And finally third film angry with Peter stage kissing Gwen as Spider-Man for the crowd, then going to Harry for lonely support, and kissing him unexpectedly, cheating on Peter, and being forced to break up with him under Harry's threat while he watched from a distance, and didn't think about warning Peter with a note or a sign. Completely forgetting he can take care of himself as he is the guy with spider powers and a masked hero and can protect her. Is everyone really sure this Mary Jane Watson version is likable? Someone I know pointed out how very toxic she is, and is right.

Nothing about this movie made sense. Everyone was so out of character. And "Eric Foreman"/Topher Grace as Venom/Eddie Brock has always been an odd choice. And the Emo Peter with random dance number?... hilarious but what the heck

Great reaction, you’re awesome 😎 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 1 & 2 are fantastic. James Garfield is a great SPIDER-MAN. Emma Stone is an incredible Gwen Stacy. Great video, keep it up 👍 Love your dress.

Andrew Garfield 😉 Not quite James Garfield the president but deffo a good spidey. What do they say? Maguire was the best Peter, Garfield was the best Spiderman
