Torment and Perceptions both had a great premise. I think Perceptions was a little weak with its story. Torment was just a little too dumb. I like the combination of echoing Kraven’s Last Hunt with a different character. Both of those stories could have been really good if Todd had a co-writer to help him flesh out the series.

When I re-read this very story as an adult, I realized it was the birth of decompressed storytelling. He is the grandfather of 2000s Marvel comics. So, in the end he helped Marvel, by teaching them how to suck money out of pockets by making a two or three issue stories stretch to five or six.

I get the point Peter was making at the end. He hates their methods, but they're actually getting results of some form. Spidey's villains keep breaking out and causing mayhem. When Ghost Rider, Wolverine or Punisher deal with someone, they tend to stay dealt with. He was worried that eventually that may be what people think it takes to stop villains, leaving heroes like Spider-Man as the minority instead of the example of heroics to aspire to.

Spiderman should really have seperate costumes for when he travels internationally. Especially if he really believes the traditional suit will blow his cover. That would be a really sweet Mary Jane scene she packed him a diffrent colored or themed suit and leaves a note. I suppose nowadays with how prolific alternate suits are for Spiderman that solution is a little easier to swallow then in the 90s. But then again, Wolverine changes costume in this story for a way simpler reason then to protect his secret identity. I guess my point is why comment on that if Spiderman never changes his outfit.

On the whole "but the newspapers would cover it being RCMP as front-page news what it McFarlane talking about?" thing: I mean you're talking about a fictional universe where an organge guy that looks like a rock is a celebrity crime-fighter alongside an elastic man, a flaming human, and a woman that can turn herself invisible. Going to go out on a limb and say that how the media covers things would be a bit different in that bizarro world (and even more sensationalist).

Seeing the Comic-Pop crew being mystified that the RCMP officer didn't have horse and looked like cops was hilarious. Yeah, the RCMP are just that -cops. The red coat and hat is the traditional garb, now worn only for ceremonial purposes. There are still a few regiments on horsback, usually for crowd control, but most RCMP officers are just regular cops. They act both as the Canadian FBI (taking care of crimes that cross provincial borders) and as local police for provinces that don't have their own police forces. They wear regular police uniform, with body armor and handguns.
