A lot of people complained about "Iron Man Jr", but they don't realize it was the only way to do the comic book accurate "Spidey eyes blinking" & "inner dialogue" on film. A cloth costume can't blink and his suit's A.I. allows us to hear his thoughts as we would in a thought bubble in a comic. Just my two dork cents ✌️😎

To be fair, being "comic book accurate" isn't a merit on how good or bad a movie is. Things can stray from source material and still be good/better. Perfect example is Civil War, in my opinion because they strayed from the comics it made things more balanced and was a better movie. At most these kinds of things are just a nod to the comic readers but don't dictate if a movie is done well IMO.

Love this flick - it’s very much like the old John Hughes high school movies from the ’80s. Wait, y’all never had mixed gym classes? I was never in anything but mixed gym classes! Weird. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Don’t make the mistake of comparing this spider-man with the others just yet. Just wait…it’ll be worth it. Promise. There is a very distinct reason why things are exactly the way they are here with respect to events and characters (like MJ, Aunt May, etc.), and the payoff will be more than worth it. Also, don’t mistake this film specifically as his “origin story” like the others. Seriously…just wait. A father figure (of sorts) Tony might be, but he’s no “uncle Ben.” You've got several more films and a few TV shows to get through before it will all come together, but rest assured that you haven't quite seen the MCU Spider-Man's "origin story" in full yet. This wasn't the destination - this was merely the very beginning of this SM's journey. The older films did it in 15 minutes...the MCU is giving you SO MUCH MORE in that regard, and you can't even imagine where it's going to be taking you. 😉

I'm almost certain the reason they skipped over Peter's entire origin story is because we had already seen it twice before in recent years in both Tobey's and Andrew's series. EVERYONE knows how he becomes Spiderman. EVERYONE knows about Uncle Ben dying. We didn't need to see it again. They'd just be wasting the movie's runtime by showing it again. Also, while it doesn't show him, Uncle Ben definitely existed in this universe. There was a very brief reference to Uncle Ben in this movie. When Ned finds out Peter is Spiderman, he makes Ned promise he won't tell Aunt May "after everything she's been through". There's also a MUCH more subtle Uncle Ben reference in the next Tom Holland film that only eagle-eyed fans would pick up on.

Loved your reaction, the editing & the post-discussion! But, I have to disagree that unlike the Toby Spider-Man, this Spider-Man is all tech....Wrong! 😸 Unlike Ironman, Spider-Man has the strength of an insect, which can lift, like 50x it’s own weight, or something. You saw that when the ceiling collapsed. You’ll notice that there’s a similar story arc with several of the Avengers...Spider-Man’s having to understand that he’s more than his suit is similar to Thor learning that he’s more than his hammer, etc. Also, Peter’s vlog was hilarious & completely believable as well as his training montage in the deep storage. And you’re opinion about MJ is way off. MJ doesn’t enjoy seeing anyone suffer, just the assholes. You also said that she wasn’t funny. She had some of the best lines in the movie. At the party, when she’s told that she was there too, she replied, “Am I?”, brilliant. Perhaps you guys don’t understand dry, dark humor 🤷🏻♀️ Anyway, stay safe, guys 🖤🌹🖤🧛🏻♀️

I say it on every video of theirs. But this is why they're my favorite channel. They keep it real and don't have much filter on their opinions. It's easy to watch something like this and just "go along with everything, even if you don't like it" because of the cultural baggage that it comes with. Alot of people love spiderman and it's easy to just accept things, or not critique as much to appease those people. But they say what they're thinking and it's awesome, hope they never change ❤️

re: Flash -- he's from the comics, and he's evolved over the Spider-Man films. In the Tobey McGuire films he's a physically intimidating popular kid who fights people to assert dominance. In the Andrew Garfield films Flash is a jock who feels entitled to being respected, instead of feared (unlike the Flash from Tobey's time). But after Uncle Ben dies Andrew's flash becomes less of an overt dick, and is actually pro-Spider-Man. In these films, yeah, Flash is someone who would have BEEN bullied, instead of seen as a bully. But I think the emphasis is to remove the cruelty of what a bully does and you see as the films progress the reasons why Flash is a bully at all. It's probably a sign of the times. It's a more sensitive, benign Flash. Still annoying. Still needs to get punched. Also, this is supposed to be a STEM focused magnet highschool, as opposed to the general "normal" everybody public high that the other two Spider-Men attended. I guess that makes a difference?

This film isn't anything but average. But average isn't bad. It's just not great. And there's nothing wrong with that. I mean, the popularity of Spider-Man carries this film. (As it should) He's fighting a 60+ year old dude in a janky bird costume build out of outer space stuff and assembled by humans who (maybe?) have a community college degree? It leaves enough to make you want to see what happens in the new few films. But it's far from an intro to the ubiquitous Spider-Man. (Two previous film series in our lifetime, not including the Japanese TV show from the 70s, or TV show from the late 60s, and countless cartoons) And because he's so well known it's fine to just gloss over his origin. In a way, this was like movie 1.5 in a trilogy instead of movie 1.
