When Lynn and I were on vacation last week she said, “I’ve got this gift card for Applebees, we should go there for lunch.” Ok. So, I’m sitting in Applebees, trying to figure out if I should wait for a waiter or if I should be ordering myself with this tablet thingamajig that was on the table. I was starting to stress a little when this song came on and I was reminded what a great bass line it had. We had lunch and I came home and learned it. With 50 songs sitting in a folder waiting to be posted (some of them a few years old), you’d think I’d post something that’s been sitting around for a while. Nope. I thought this came out pretty good, so this is what I’m posting today.
“Spiderwebs” by No Doubt off their 3rd album, Tragic Kingdom. The bass was played by Tony Kanal. I always thought he had a good sound. I remember him playing Yamaha basses.
I took some liberties with the last two sections of the bridge (I couldn't quite make out what the bass was doing, but I think I'm in the neighborhood) and the syncopated part coming out of the bridge (he's playing a 2 note chord and I'm playing a low G).
I’m playing the recently acquired ’76 Guild B-301.
