Drum sure are a lot of fun to catch. We used to save the 'marble' out of their heads when I was a kid. Unusual to find nicer ones like that in a spillway, as opposed to a couple hundred smaller ones! Watching you set the hook on that 3 ft rod is pretty entertaining! I've never tasted it but have a few local friends that say it's poor mans lobster as well. They slice the fillet into fajita type strips before boiling it and dipping in butter. I'll have to save the next few I come across. Great video as always, Jake!

Hey Pat. There’s usually a good bunch of nice ones in that spillway. I thought about digging those marbles out, but, ran short on time. Yeah. That 3’ rod needed a little extra swing to connect well. Between a short rod and the stretch from the 6# mono I had to swing for the fences! 🤣

Nice show once again Jake! Drum is good even fried, I've cleaned and ate mini in years past from the Illinois River but a key is do not keep them on a stringer very long if you're going to be fishing for a few hours. Get them on ice right away, fish all night, take them home fillet them up, fry them up and you got a feast. 👍🏻👍🏻🎣
