Hi Tamsin, I hope you're OK xx ❣️❣️ I love, love how " Dirty Dill" turns out to be some of the most amazing Yarns 🌈 He must be one Handsome 🐏 Ram. I have both the Nano 1.1 and the 6. Can spin lace weight yarns on the 1.1, unfortunately as yet I've not been successful doing them on the 6. Maybe I don't have the speed high enough. If you decide to try it and are successful I'd love to know. Thankyou so much for sharing your video podcasts. Happy Spinning Fibre Friend 🎡🐑🥰 Take care, stay safe and well Love and hugs Jen xxxx ❤️❤️🫂🫂🐈⬛🐈⬛

Where was this video when I was teaching myself to spin lace weight and cobweb weight yarns? LOL! Edit: I tend to draft sideways too! It’s so much easier to see how much fibre goes into the single. As a relative newbie with just a year of spinning under my belt, one thing I’ve learned is to use your senses when you’re starting a spin: Look what your fibre is doing, feel what it’s doing. Absorb it until you get into a groove. Do the same for the first three to five minutes of each spinning session when spinning with the same fibre. Best way to keep consistent.

Flax isn't as flexible as wool so bending it around my finger doesn't work. I've tried lol. I still haven't gotten a handle on spinning flax so I'm gonna have to bust out my supply and get at it again. I need to figure it out.

Hi, I’m new to spinning and have been gifted two large bags of peltwool. One bag have wool from grown sheeps with long silky locks, the other bag have lambs wool in it. Since you say no fleece left behind, I was wondering if you had any suggestions to how I can prepare the shortest lambswool to be able to spin from it. The shortest wool is only 5 cm long but has a lot more crimp/curls than wool from the grown sheeps. But theese short curls are amazingly soft and silky and I would love to use it too. Should I mix ot with longer lambs wool (7cm) comb or card it? Spin thick or thin??? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
@bffiberarts
Жыл бұрын
For the shortest wool I would card it into rolags and spin from those. If it's super soft and silky then a medium twist about a fingering weight would probably make the most of it. I wouldn't blend it with the longer wool because working with two radically different lengths can be very challenging.

@@bffiberarts - If you’re ever looking for a tongue-in-cheek fun crochet pattern to do in laceweight, take a look at the Skull Shawl. It’s on Ravelry, but there’s also a very detailed series of videos by Fibre Spider. I’ve made several in various weights of yarn. When wearing that shawl, most people won’t notice it consists of an endless series of skulls connected by a web. It’s one of my favourite patterns to do when crocheting for a gift to someone with a sense of humour… or a young lady that likes skulls.

@Suze you'll read that you're not supposed to lubricate the Lendrum but they only mean the bearing the wheel turns on. You can lubricate the shafts for the treadles as they can get noisy and the flyer should always be lubricated where it goes into the white bushings. Just be careful not to get it on your scotch tension band. I think I need to do a care and feeding video about my Lendrum so I'll see if I can film that tomorrow and get it up this week or maybe next.
