Thank you sir. I didn’t come up with it, but it does seem to work pretty good. Thanks for the kind words and for watching! Take care

Enjoying your videos. Been doing a little catching up since Jim Gordon mentioned you. For some reason, I think I would like to have some mules. My dream would be to take a trip with them somewhere with a covered wagon. Probably just getting senile in my old age. lol Keep the videos coming, I'll be watching.

Just wondering Zack, do you shoe your mules or work them barefoot with regular trimmings ?

I shoe them for traction mainly. Two reasons to shoe is for traction and or excessive wear such as when on the road a lot. I don’t get on the road much, I just need the extra traction. So I use traction type shoes with heel corks. If an animal goes to slipping on ya when pulling, they’ll start short stepping and safetying up and they’ll quit pulling as hard for you. Sort of like we do when you hit a slick spot and you short step. Anyway, hope this answers your question. And thanks for asking! Thanks also for taking time watch and comment! I sure appreciate it. Take care and do come again, anytime

I don't think your mules need a lot of desensitizing. The blower doesn't seem to bother them at all. But how do you keep your stalls so clean? My horses are inside a lot more during summer days than any other time of the year, since it is relatively dark inside, and there they defecate and urinate a lot.

Thank you, sir! Mules are naturally cleaner than horses are. They get that from the donkey! They tend to use the bathroom in the same place nearly all the time. And their pile is outside, so it is a lot easier to clean up after them… Thank you for the kind words and also for watching!

@@zachodom7486 Now that's surprising, your mules use the bathroom? My horses are too big, they trample around and break everything ( Couldn't help it, had to have my fun with that). When I did hayrides and the people pointed out to their children, that the horses "went to the bathroom" I explained to them that my horses were too big for the bathroom, I wouldn't even let my dogs use the bathroom, because' they never put the lid down'. And then I would do a little vocabulary excursion, using the words poop and pee , shit and piss, defecate and urinate, relieve themselves and ease nature. In my previous life, I taught languages among other subjects in Germany and here in the USA and trained teachers to do that right, so I can't help myself. But I always had horses - for sixty years now.

Just curious, does May have certain character traits for you to pick her as your lead mule or is she just the one you choose?

She is going to be the smaller mule of the two. In which we usually put the smaller one on the left side. For road crown, and also plowing. Taller animal walks in furrow. Her mother was a real good mare also, and I’m hoping she turns out like her momma. So, time will tell the tale. Thx for watching and commenting

@@zachodom7486 ok thanks. Having never worked with horses or mules sometimes the most simple reason isn't thought of. Thanks for all the lessons you give us that don't have a clue about working mules
