In this video, we talk about the Alvarado scoring system, also known by the mnemonic MANTRELS. It is a 10-point scoring tool, with each point under a 5 meaning that appendicitis is less likely, and each point over a 5 meaning that appendicitis is more likely. M means migration of pain to the right lower quadrant. A means anorexia or a lack of appetite. N means nausea or vomiting. T means tenderness in the right lower quadrant. R means rebound tenderness. E means elevated temperature. L means leukocytosis. S means shift to the left.
