I'd need to put all potential positive and negative aspects of choosing to slide onto opposing sides of a table and assign each 2 scores based on a) importance and b) likelihood. Then I would have to multiply the 2 point scores for each aspect, and total the resultant point scores for each column Then I'd probably have to make something to eat, go for a shit and take a nap to get my choice clear in my head and give me time to think of any other potential aspects which may influence my decision

Hahaha. I couldn't do it, even if it wasn't for the whole decision making process. I'm just plain too slow. Whenever I playfight with my 8 year old nephew, I feel like warding off a little ninja. You have been truly blessed to have extremely agile coaches/spotters who are dedicated not only to train you but to literally keep you fit for competing. Yes, it’s their job to look out for the team members but there’s ‘doing your job’ and then there is ‘doing your job so well our training injury rate is among the best in the world’. Coaches who look beyond raw talent to recruit people they’ll enjoy having around are wise. The instinct to protect is stronger if the athlete is a decent person.
