I personally don't think it looks bad. I'd have to see it up close to be totally satisfied but I think it looks pretty cool! I'm getting ready to do my bassist's 1st bass as a gift from his wife for their anniversary & I'm considering using this technique. I do however have some questions as well that I hope you, Brett, will answer, along with the previous questions asked, sooner than later, if you would please?: (in no particular order) 1. What temperature was your water & what temperature do you recommend if different than what you used? 2. What "sheen' of paint did you use? (i.e. flat, satin, gloss) I tested with gloss & wasn't satisfied enough - see question #3 below... 3. Did you get any globs or clumps of paint anywhere, or did it leave a noticeable texture that you had to sand down before clear-coating? I've run my first test on a large plastic pencil box that I primed with Rust-Oleum (flat white) I then sprayed a combination of black Krylon automotive enamel & Rust-Oleum metallic charcoal & metallic silver (all gloss) into a 32 gal trash can half-full of fresh Florida well water. (approx 72 degrees +/-) I could already see the paint starting to solidify so I chose to shake the edges of the trash can to mix the colors up in lieu of stirring it with a stick. I've seen a few videos where solidified paint stuck to the stir stick & ended up clumping together leaving large areas of water with no paint! I'm fairly satisfied with the overall results except for the areas where the paint globbed/clumped up! I've since read that I should have used all flat paints until final gloss clear-coat, but I'm not sure if that's the reason for the areas of extra paint. Another option is to use regular cans of individual oil-based enamels & a dropper, which not only gives you more control than a spray can, but a way smoother finish!! This will probably be my preferred technique!? Your (or anyone else's here that's still open to using this technique) thoughts & comments please!?

Hello, i don't know if you can help me. Your work is really nice so i expect, I tried to do it but my paint was just like a big plastic film, and i couldn't mix it to make my designs, cause the paint layer had "holes" in it. I''m using Gold montana paint, this is an acrylic one, and I had a bucket full of hot water, what else can I do ?
