You brought out my most favourite toy: The grader. Ever since I was a kid I always loved this machine. In fact I got the toy version made by Tonka for my birthday when I was 10. Now, when I see road building and one of them is at work, I simply pull over and watch them go at work.

What an awesome Saturday morning to wake up to Chris working his majic on a driveway with his motorgrader. It's been awhile since we last saw him sculpting piles of gravel into a road that's gonna last for decades with only the occasional touch up needed. The hours Chris works even makes me tired just thinking about it. Great little video to watch as I'm eating my breakfast. Thanks Chris for the entertainment.

It's a good day when the grader comes to play. This entire country's roadways have been graded before paved by a device with a variable sculpting blade like a road grader, Hats off to all the road graders in the past as well as the present. Happy Independence Day everyone.

I've always wanted to run one! I picked the grader operator's brain on the last job I did (I finish dozed the subgrade and he graded the stone), and he told me if I can grade with a dozer it's not too different and gave me a bunch of tips. Sadly didn't have time to hop on his machine like he offered, but hopefully I get the chance one day.

So much to take in, grade elevation, the grade of the field for drainage, a piece of cake for Chris.Just another day in his office the cab of a Dozer ,or excavator ,road grader ,Dump Truck ,makes no difference to Him ,he's equally at home with all of his equipment. A tip of the hat to ya Chris on another excellent pond and access road .

A little trick I learned from my dad when spreading Tru k loads of material. Take the heal of your blade and push the material into a window in the center of your drive, do that both ways a couple of times and you'll have an even window to spread out from. When I was a kid dad had the county gravel job for that season we had up to around 30 trucks hauling to us anything from tandems and pups to end dumps and bellydumps that were making 1 1/2 round trips. By using that method he had no trouble keeping up using a Wabco 666 grader and the material was nice and even. A lot of things my dad did I never understood why until years later

Definitely, a dozer can push more and work way steeper slopes in softer material, but that really long wheelbase and central blade on a grader makes it so stable and so much less sensitive to little bumps and elevation changes. It's perfect for roads like this!
