My grandfather invented the spring break and I have been looking for something talking about it. So thank you.

This is why I don't chock my tires on a hill. Once the spring brakes are on. The truck can lose all air pressure but it's not going to roll.

This video is wrong!!!!!!! During engine start up,air is not applied to the emergency side of the brakes. The only time air is Applied to the emergency side of the brakes is When the parking break button is pushed in. Yes after the engine is started, and enough air is built up, when you push that parking break button in, air is applied to the emergency side of the chamber releasing the parking brake

So why spring breaks can’t stop a truck downhill when the service brakes fail ?!
@peteranoia4570

Brakes fail going downhill because the friction surfaces overheat. The friction material (brake shoes) glaze over, and the drums expand as temperature goes up. Glazed shoes mean less friction. Expanded drums increase stroke length, so there is less effective effort applied to the shoes (disc brakes don't have this problem). On top of that, spring breaks are about equivalent to applying 60psi to the braking effort (when the springs are fresh), instead of full reservoir pressure that service brakes can apply when you mash it.

I had to be more specific with my search. Just “spring breaks” give you something way different

Safer than not having brake power, that's for sure. Welcome to the life of a trucker.
