The 1970 colours in that flower reminded me of The Brady Bunch house from the TV series!! LOL!!

Oh yep, I can see that. I used to love watching the Brady Bunch and Bewitched when I was a kid.👌

With the sand pit timbers, maybe lay them side to side as a solid base underneath a raised garden bed to help tree roots and that from growing into the raised bed and if you have some put some weed mat on top before the raised bed. Don't forget Bren, lime can leach out of the concrete with rain if the gardens are too close to the reno's it could effect the plants too as well mate. Thanks for the update Bren, boy it's cold here at the moment and tomorrow apparently. Take care, stay safe mate and enjoy the wind, cold and rain haha. Seeya Rob

Hi Rob, Thanks for the great tips! Using sand pit timbers as a solid base under the raised garden bed sounds like a smart idea to prevent tree roots from encroaching. I'll definitely consider laying down weed mat as an extra precaution. And thanks for the heads up about lime leaching from concrete, I had no idea, I'll keep an eye on that as well. Stay warm and safe in the cold weather. Happy Weekend Rob !! Take care, Bren

Hi Bren, nice to see your building coming along. Yes I reckon your right with the 1970s feel. Isn't it surprising how quick everything comes around. It looks like a lot of my spring flowers are finishing now especially the tulips & primulas. Have a good week. Cheers

Hi Keith, It's always great to hear your updates. I agree, there's a certain charm to that 1970s aesthetic. Nature's cycles are fascinating; it feels like just yesterday our spring flowers were coming into bloom. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead! Bren 🌼🌷

Hi Shane, Dounds like you've been busy grafting apples. Rain can be a gift for the garden. It's great to have a thermometer in your mini greenhouse to keep tabs on the temperature. Happy gardening! 🌱🍎 Did you see that 'Bloom' in Wollondilly is on again this year. Did you go last year? Defo worth checking out. Happy Weekend ! Bren 🐞

Hey Bren, Yay! Your slab is down!! It must feel like things are really underway with the building. I just went out to move some of my pots (at 1am) because it's meant to be a frost tonight, and realised I have my very first dahlia bud! So exciting! But also I can see something has been eating through a lot of the leaves. Scoundrels!! I agree about sparaxis being part of 70s decor. 😂 I have the red ones, that have naturalised over years, as well as spring stars, jonquils and freesias (in all colours), all through our lawn and garden. So pretty! I have many pots of plants. You are correct, they rely on us to look after them, not nearly the same as in the ground. Some things here do way better though, in pots. Mostly my bulbs. My mum has some hippeastrums in a half wine barrel. They are spectacular!! I was wondering, with your ranunculi, had you kept the water up to them? Or did they get quite hot? They are a bit sensitive, I've found, with heat. I've chatted enough. Enjoy your week. Cheers ❤

Hi Michelle, Thanks for your lovely comment! It's great to hear that your dahlia bud is making an appearance, even though those leaf-eating culprits are causing trouble. 😄 Your garden sounds like a colorful paradise with sparaxis, spring stars, jonquils, and freesias. As for my ranunculi, I should keep a closer eye on the water, especially during hotter days. Thanks for the reminder. Xx Your passion for gardening is truly inspiring. Enjoy your gardening adventures, and have a wonderful week too! Bren ❤️🌼

When will you be planting your new Dahlias tubers?
@ggthegardengirl
Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure yet. I might pre-sprout the new dahlia tubers in pots first and plant them out into the garden in about a month. But I could just direct plant them now, I don't think we will be getting anymore frosts. Have you planted out dahlias yet ?

@@ggthegardengirl No, it’s still freezing here. I might plant out the dwarf dahlias from last year and see how they go first.
