This week had variety for sure. first of all, the weather was very rainy, then turned to snow and then was a beautiful spring day. We gave the kid goats their first vaccination for enterotoxemia and tetanus and modified their creep area. They are big enough now that they can jump higher and further so they are now on top of the wall of the shed and I moved the jumping box away from the gate because I am sure they would be jumping from the box over the gate given the chance.
We put chain collars on the puppies this week. They are growing so fast, and some are very hard to tell apart. We used small, smooth chain so they cannot chew them off and we use a colored clip to attach the ends. Each puppy has a distinctive color, so we now know who each puppy is by looking at the collar.
We found broken fence line when we were checking the clover that was frost seeded earlier. Deer run into the fence and break knobs and an occasional tension spring, so we checked the entire fence and made the necessary repairs.
Lambing season is in full swing, and we are expecting several lambs over the next 3 to 4 weeks.
Thanks for joining us at Norwal Farm.
