I often get asked to compile the camping videos into one large documentary of the year. I use to do this previously but then stopped doing it because I couldn't imagine anyone watching my stupid face for longer than ten minutes. But here are some of the most memorable camps of 2022 in a long format 3hr documentary style video covering overland adventure camping over Summer Autumn and Winter. Conditions vary from the high 20s to the low 20s so for anyone looking to travel Scandinavia it might be interesting to see what its all about at what time of year. Or maybe your having trouble sleeping and you want to listen to a monotone British guy until you pass out. I was hoping to get one last camp before I broke up for Christmas but sadly I couldn't, so here is a rehash for you of everything you've seen before (but obviously watch only if you want). Thanks to everyone who supports the channel in any way you do, comments, insults etc.. and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas (if you celibate it) and a Happy new year! I will hopefully see you in 2023. Take care all of you!

I really love these long videos. Pardon me for saying, but I have these ideas on how people should sound like. When I go to bed or sleepy? I like the British accent as its really calming. It just feels nice and comfy. Thanks for making a great video like this. I'm stuck at home recovering from some injuries and the dentists office. Its nice just sitting back and watching this. Great task you were able to conquer in filming this. I really enjoyed it!! Two thumbs up! You asked for some advice in regards to staying warm in those arctic conditions. Here’s mine: It seems extremely counterintuitive, but I have found that you will actually sleep much “warmer” if you sleep naked. Sleep on top of the clothes inside the sleeping bag; your clothes will stay warm and your body will be able to heat up the reduced airspace much more efficiently. Sleeping bags (and duvets) work on the concept of reflecting your body heat back onto you. The wearing of clothes prevent the sleeping bag from doing this. I have verified this through my own experimentation of sleeping many a cold nights (including while attending Arctic Survival School) while in the military. I have always slept warmer than my “clothed” cohorts, even with the uniform sleep systems. As soon as I take off all my clothes , including underwear., I have always slept comfortably. In addition to that, sweat accumulated in the clothes tend to increase cooling of the body. Also, even the smallest amount of dirt in clothes’ fibers result in the deterioration of the insulative properties of clothing. Also, try and expel your urine throughout the night. Urine stored in our bladders absorb cold temperatures which result in a cooler core. Hopefully you will be able to test these methods… Take care and God Bless!

Thanks for watching and for the priceless tips on arctic comfort in bed. Good to know from someone with first hand experience so I appreciate that and will put these things into effect. Since filming this I have been out consistently through the winter and am currently putting together a winter camping documentary similar to this one. Interestingly before you wrote this I started sleeping in just my underwear and I stopped drinking close to bed time. Mostly from observations on sweat and comfort like you mentioned. I added about 2" of air insulation under the tent mat along with a Mylar layer and the cold temps have not been an issue which is a big improvement. Thanks again for the information and for watching!

Thanks for the comment and for watching! The cold is pretty brutal at times, but when the humidity is low, it's so much better. I'm originally from England so my jeep was a diesel from the factory as that's the norm there. I imported it to Sweden where gas is more functional in the cold and more popular. The way people with diesel trucks get around it here is to install a diesel engine heater. I will do the same eventually I think! Thanks again for watching

I think its good you carry I gun. I would if I could. Here the bears are quite shy and stay away from people, most of the time. I have seen a few solid colour XJs. It's a good look but I would only do it of I found another colour matched grill

White gas pressure stoves are more tasky but worth it. They are the only stove that works above 20,000 feet for mountain climbers. For cold weather they are the best. Cheap to support as well but bring a white gas tool kit cause sometimes the orfaces get clogged up.

Lol...when you cut the butter at the beginning of this video and gave it a flick into the pan, overshooting hitting the ground, YOU HAD ME! LOL! That look on your face said a thousand things. I laughed, knowing your pain! You had me less than 5 minutes finding your channel. I stopped the video, hit the subscribe button, adjusted notifications and went back to watching. Outstanding video share. Thank you!

Yorkshire tea was my preference until I discovered Barry’s Tea (an Irish tea) and also Thompson’s. I wouldn’t turn down a Yorkshire tea, but try Barry’s breakfast tea and you’ll know what I mean. 👌

A little foam insulation between you and your floor would def stop that freeze from coming up to get you. We always cant count on Big foot to come along to cuddle up and get you warm again! You will figure out what materials to add to your flooring. Enjoyed the video! Beautiful country, amazing evening skies! Thank you for taking us along!

One key solution to power is an additional alternator and boosting both up 420W. It's pricey, but you'll never have a power issue again. Ever.

That was an amazing quote. It should be more known, I live in Alaska I know all about serenity and getting away from everything, even better if u got a cabin on a lake 😎 lol but I loved it. And yes you get 200 miles away from civilization and your whole body feels different, more humble, quiet, it might sound dumb to some but on average we have 100s if not 1000s of radio waves and wireless internet and a big one 5g, if you go far enough in a state like this that has unlimited wilderness, after you get off that bumpy loud four wheeler and turn off that key, it's like magic happening. So calm, so quiet, if u focus on how your body feels u will feel an extreme relief INSTANTLY. Ugh I come back to town and just don't feel good again. Wish I could live substanancial but I have genetic body issues that keep me fatuiged at all times, people say go exercise I do that on a good day for about an hour then stumble out half passing out all the way home then I am laid up for the most part for 2-3 days. My muscles don't hold nutrients the way they are suppose too. But way off track go out there, and experience it atleast once in your life. U will not regret it, I can still do awesome trips just can't pack in anymore and could do a week but not live out there like I would love too. Great travels everyone and remember that quote! It is so true. " you leave the forest you lose your true body, (in harmony/tune with nature), but if you stay in the city you lose your soul," just an amazing quote. I understand because out away from anything and everything all you have is your soul and yourself to reflect on that soul, are you missing something, does something need mending? Look around, look at how much is alive around you, growing, breathing out oxygen, water storing power and heat from the sun; b-e-a-utiful. Yours truly, ~ZJAK

Well done on the filming Mike! Thoroughly enjoyed the watch and thanks for putting them up. So much of Sweden's forest looks like the North Woods here in Maine, which I explore in a juxtaposed Land Rover 110 for the last 13 years. A RHD I imported from the UK, I replaced the V8 with a 200Tdi, installed an Espar D2, which indeed sounds like a fighter jet. Share your sentiments on being far out into the wild places, solo, bushwhacking interesting looking mountains and cliffy rock outcrops, feeds the soul and keeps one anchored to what's real. Regarding the Sasquatch and semi, I was unscathed but I tell you, I was in my Marmot Limelight, lakeside, 3 hours of dirt rd in, not a hairless biped around for 50 miles, had moved over in my sleep onto my side and bulged out the side of the tent, at about 4 am 'something' pushed on me square in the back and rolled me over, then dead silence. I didn't get out, just unholstered the pistol. IDK, methinks they're out there!

What suspension do you have on your jeep?
@WorkshoptoWilderness
Жыл бұрын
It's about 6.5" total. A bit of a frankin lift. Lots of DIY parts and such but overall I've got some 4.5" coils with DIY 2" spacers, 6.5" trailmaster rear shocks installed in the front with some DIY upper brackets and lower bar pin eliminators. The front control arms are from ruffstuff with drop brackets. The rear is a 5.5" rubicon express leaf pack with some DIY boomerang shackles. The shocks are stock xj shocks because I made some high clearance shock brackets on the axle so the shocks don't need to be so long. It's a mishmash but it works well. I live in Europe and I don't earn much so I basically make loads or shit on the jeep so I can afford the camp gear I can't make.
