It was a really nice change of pace this week, making our way inland to the beautiful waters of the Neuse River. The Shad run is the official start of Spring fishing in my opinion. They jump and fight like a baby tarpon and are plentiful if you can find the right fishing spot. Too much fun to not go and make a day of it. The roe is a delicacy and I am a huge fan. Bread them and fry them whole or scramble them in with your eggs. Such a treat. Some people also really enjoy the meat, but I prefer to use it for catfish bait and offshore bottom fishing bait. Either way, get out there and be somebody!
