Grant fronting the media is a good indicator that he'll be playing - which probably means a 6/2 split. Question is then just if Faf is fit...if so, I'm guessing he'll probably partner Pollard with Sacha covering off the bench. Can't wait for Saturday!

Is it me or is the rivalry between Ireland and South Africa seems to be completely manufactured. Nobody in Ireland believes that we're number 1in the world. This feels like a real lost opportunity to bring developing player on a tour, rest some older guys that have been going for over a 12 month period. the under 20's RWC is of more interest to me and is more relevant to the world cup in 2027

It only feels manufactured because there’s little history. South Africans are able to see a stray male trying to enter our territory.. the fact that we haven’t beaten them since 2016 and we play them in the URC, are 1 and 2 ranked in the world and their media believe that they should have won the RWC. After 10 years it will be a proper rivalry.

From what I heard, Tony said that in practice Libbok is good, but he struggles on the big stage. I agree, Manie lacks BMT. Pollard is the present, Sacha is the future.

@@Alias-gy3tz I don't think Manie lacks BMT - that game against France was fire. He was the wrong guy to play in the rain against England. I think Rassie made a mistake there. If you look at the relief Nienaber had after the England game; he knew we pulled one out of the fire. And we had no steam in the final against NZ and scrapped the win. Pollard is a tournament player for sure 2015 (3rd), 2019 (1st), 2023 (1st) speaks for themselves. What is worrying is if you take a look at the ages of the players. How many will realistically play in 2027? Some of these guys would be going to a fourth world cup.

No both teams don’t think they are number one. The Irish team will think they are number 1 when they are actually number 1. They are number 2 currently in the rankings and those rankings aren’t even that representative. All these Safa assumptions and hype marketing is getting boring. Literally nobody in Ireland, press or otherwise claiming number 1 and it would be stupid beyond belief to be claiming this going into an away match at altitude with a weakened team against the back to back World champs an currently ranked 1 Springboks. Just ware the favourite tags.
@brettfleiner4906

It's not just Saffas man, SOME Irish Pundits and other media (not necessarily from either SA or IRE) are also pushing this narrative. It's good for the game in the long run though, it creates some hype, gets the more casual rugby fans and neutrals into the game, so I'm not against it.

@@brettfleiner4906 you would have to point me to any recent article by any Irish online or otherwise media outlet for me to believe you as I’ve seen this nowhere else but the South African media. The latest dribble reported a so called spat between Warburton (Wales) and Matfield and I wouldn’t mind but this ‘war of words’ happened before the 6 nations. It was deliberately portrait as recent and lined up in the comments was Safa after Safa claiming how the Irish Warburton didn’t have a clue. Honestly while it might promote the game a bit, it’s seems only to give the trolls an outlet in which to vent.

You’d have to prove that any Irish media made such a claim anywhere recently. Saying it doesn’t make it true. Sure today I see a ‘War of words’ between Warburton (from Wales) and Matfield being portrayed as being recent when it was before the 6 nations by the Saffa media and the comment section is full of Saffa’s saying how the IRISH Warburton doesn’t have a clue. Yeah it builds the games up but it also gives fodder to the clueless Facebook and KZitem trolls.
