I purchased the 4.25 3 days ago. Day one went straight from the purchase to the range. It failed to feed around 10 rounds out of the initial 80 rounds. Took it home, did some light sanding with 200 grit where I saw contact wear from initial use on the interior of the slide and frame. Then I lubed the s*** out of it per SA's customer support. Second trip to the range I had 1 ftf in the first mag and the other 170 rounds cycled flawlessly. Also, I had a friend tell me to GRIP it like you mean it. 1911's do not like light grips at all. Super happy with it now! No need to send it in. Just lightly sand the slide and contacts on the frame and run it wet.

I love my Prodigy so far. Before I ever shot it, I cleaned it and lubed it really well and just worked the action for like 3-4 days, off and on. I only have like 300 rounds through it so far with zero malfunctions. It’s such a sweet gun!

First 300 rounds (124gr) in mine I had 2 failures to seat into battery and 1 failure to eject. Took it home, clean it thoroughly and I haven’t had an issue since. Creeping up on 1000 rounds now.

Hey @David Campbell! O I'm sorry to hear that man. One of our subscribers just got his back from Springfield. He said it only took 9 days and they kept him in the loop the whole time, and now is eating all the ammo and functioning great

Glad yours is running great, I’m waiting for mine to come back from Springfield. I had so many issues. I hope they’re able to fix it because it really does feel nice when it shoots. I like the gun but if I had to do it again, I would’ve gone for the 4.25 or spend just a bit more for a staccato.

O no, I'm sorry to hear that @J S. I hope your prodigy comes back more enjoyable. It always sucks when you purchase something so exciting then you have to send it away to get fixed up. I always wondered how the 4.25 would feel. I bet it would just be fast all the time. I'm trying to save up for a staccato. Thinking about the c2 or xc

The 4.25 is great. I've had no issues at all and its smooth as butter. My opinion the 4.25 is the best. My only complaint is the prodigy should of came with the a12 plates instead of the a13. The 12 has all the good optic fits. And the website said sometime in December. But other than that it's wonderful.

Hey @B.C. oo I'm curious how the 4.25 shoots. Does it feel more like a race gun for you? Dude, I feel you. I ordered the A14 last month and the status just says "awaiting fulfillment"

@@OdysseyToOpulence in my opinion its a very smooth function. The 4.25 is probably the best option out of the 2. The perfect balance. I would say it wants to race. I have not tried the 5 yet so I'm not sure how much different. I've done nothing to it at all no tuning or anything and its smooth as butter.

Use Staccato mags or MBX mags. I have had zero issues with mine, but when I use springfield mags I have failure to feed problems.

That's a good tip @John Klabechek! My local shop doesn't carry staccato or mbx mags. They do have Atlas mags , which I think are tuned staccato mags. Do you know if they work?

Hey brother great review! I have the commander but my first range it sucked had 400 rounds didn’t make 40 so I called Springfield and sent her in the process super easy they communicated at every level no guessing! Had her back in 9 days they replaced the extractor rearmed and polished her. Runs smooth as butter now eats all ammo including hollow points, my only complaint is the lag on the optic plates for RMR’s guess they are trying to sellout dragonfly’s but she’s a shooter with irons sights at 25 yards not just on paper but descent groupings. The outlaw that claims to be honest is full of 💩 he’s a staccato whore which is cool😎 just be honest about it! Ciao

Hey @Quincy McNeeley! Oo man that is great to hear! I'll share the good news if anyone asks. I'm waiting on the rmr plate also lol. I just noticed my fiber optic fell off when I was cleaning it. Just ordered replacements from Dawson precision. So I guess I'll see how easy the replacements are with these sights

If the bullet is getting smooshed into case. That is a mag/feed ramp issue. Nosedives cause this. You see this on jhp with 1911’s. This should never happen with fmj.

Hi @Kenneth Carrier! Ooo I can definitely see what you're talking about. The ramp on the barrel is a little steep. Thanks for the insight!
@LowIQinHQ
Жыл бұрын
@@OdysseyToOpulence when you say steep… they’re usually not. Is that a ramped barrel? Cut into the lower receiver; if so then the nose dives shouldn’t be a problem :/

O gotcha @Kennith Carrier ….. it’s not occurring anymore so maybe it was just ammo related. Yup it has ramped barrel, where my traditional 1911 has an actual feed ramp
