I was Born in 1945 and raised in Springfield, Ohio, the 50's and 60's were a magical time to be there, the downtown was a thriving and bustling area everyday of the week, I moved to California in 1970 and Lived in Oakland, the traffic sucked and the Earthquakes in the Bay area caused me to move back to Ohio in 1972. I could not believe what happened to downtown Springfield when I returned in 1972, I drove right through it (didn't even stop), and went to Middletown, O, where I had friends and stayed in Middletown for 20 years, having only planned to stay a year. In 1972 Middletown, O, was a great place it reminded me of Springfield, O, in the 50's and 60's, then Middletown degenerated into what Springfield was in 1972, I left Middletown because of the Crime, and moved to Marysville, O, in 1992, Marysville is still a nice community to live in, though we have had massive growth over the last 20 + years, but the Uptown Marysville is still nice and they haven't destroyed it like they did in Springfield and Middletown.

It does have a high crime rate as do most cities where there are no youth programs . I grew up there and attended the YMCA and the Teen Center both located on Center Street. However, the fact you feel so inclined to present a video as if it encompasses a reasonable portion of the city is jaded journalism. Get on out of my hometown with that mess!!!.

The school looks nice, but wait till you see the amount of memorials they have because of all their students being gunned down or dying in horrible ways. They have literal grief counseling for that reason. And look around the school because everywhere around it looks like a dump.

Springfield definitely is not the most dangerous city in Ohio. Youngstown hides its crime numbers by not reporting them to the fbi or reporting them late so the city doesn’t end up as the murder capital of the U.S. 2021 youngstown had 31 murders with a population of 67,000. You can easily do the math. That’s a murder rate of 46 per 100,000 people. Which is equivalent to a city the size of Chicago having 1,380 murders in 1 year. Springfield in the late 70s- mid 80s was safe enough for an 8 year old to ride her bike all around town. But, it was also a place where 13 year olds hung out in pool halls, smoking and drinking. Maybe that was just the times though... I can't believe Schuller's bakery still exists. Wow!

Florida also has fewer reported hate crimes than Ohio, with about 0.5 incidents per 100,000 people compared to Ohio's 4.5 incidents. You gotta come up during the summer time. In the winter nobody is outside. The south part of town is typically the most dangerous. The reason it’s the most dangerous city by crime rate is because it’s per capita. Meaning every few people you pass on the street has a criminal history. It’s also a town where if you have enemies you can’t hide from them. It’s not big enough to hide but there’s a lot of beef. So a lot of shootings happen. And don’t get me started on stuff like drugs and r*pe. You missed some of the best turns though. People here will fight you just for looking at them too long lol

In my opinion Springfield is mostly garbage, and it's only getting worse. I've lived here most my life. There are good pockets, but for the most part meh. I didn't know about us having the worst crime rates in the state, I thought that was like Canton or Dayton. The neighborhood my parents live in used to be really peaceful and nice, but the crime rate there has gone up a lot since they moved there. So much stupid shit happens over there now. I'm hoping my boyfriend, son and I are able to move away sometime in the near future. I do wish you guys would have made it downtown or to the park though. They're nice. Also all those big house, most of them have been converted into doubles and apartments mostly owned by slumlords. Sad stuff.
