Absolutely INSANE the amount of work you put into the cockpit. You literally got every little thing covered and then some. This is very impressive. The fan inside the middle compartment was the icing on the cake for me. Just when I thought you couldn't have outdone yourself you put a fan in there! Amazing!

Thanks! And that little ventilation fan in the dash cubby makes a massive difference in the temperature it gets up to, making it much more useful.

I installed two fuse panels in the dash between the stereo and steering column. One from the factory ignition tie in and the other from the factory Aux battery. Under the driver's seat I have a small fuse panel from the factory Aux 100amp connection point to power these circuits. This way some of the loads turn on with ignition and others always on yet on the Aux battery so the starter battery isolated for just starting. All of the dash loads are then either directly connected to these circuit panels or via a dash USB outlet which is connected to a fuse panel. I also have one more fuse panel for stereo amp, air compressor, etc under the passenger seat. Some more details in another of my videos here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/sIxquaaMsJmDnpw

Another great video thanks again. I would love to see the way that you tapped into different power sources to power all of these different accessories. And just like other people have previously stated it would be awesome to see the way you remove the panels and get behind these hidden areas. Thanks

I used the factory Aux battery to power all added dash components so they can run without load on the starter battery, which stays isolated for only starting. I installed a bunch of BlueSea USB charging ports from dedicated BlueSea fuse panels powered from the Aux battery. I'd like to do a video of taking part the dash yet have no reason to at this time, but will try to do a run thru.

I have the Yaesu FTM-400xdr amateur radio and President Bill CB. Each has worked very well. The remote display of the amateur radio is fantastic, especially for limited space dash (as most all are), and the small form factor of the CB radio is also very nice. The location of each provide excellent viewing, sound and control.

Is the 8 position BSS Weatherdeck a 4309 panel switch w/o fuse and backlighting or the 4308 w/fuses and backlight?
@vantripping
Жыл бұрын
Good eye on the switch panel. This Weatherdeck switch panel has a fuse and lights in red when off or green when on for each switched circuit. Plus I ordered custom labels for each of my switched positions. It's a great switch and works well and in this placement easy to operate while driving.

Would loved to have seen how you got back behind everything. I have no experience getting behind the dash of any vehicle. I don't even know where to start. Any suggestions GRATEFULLY appreciated. 2008 Freightlner Mercedes Sprinter 2500 (short) - 2010 Roadtrek Motorhome. Thanks.

Hmmm, well, I removed parts of the dash--several times--which comes off in quite easy to remove pieces and sections. There are some other videos but I can make another video with some tips. Having done it so many times wish I had made some videos of me doing it, which I care not to do again, but will try to make a video with some tips as it's fairly easy.

@@ivanpuckett3003 The switch panel in the dash is by @BlueSeasystems.com, their WeatherDeck DC panel. I run the high powered rack lights to a relay. USB outlets and voltage meters (mini OLED) are also by them. Curtain tracks are by none other than Curtain-Tracks.com. They make some great low profile tracks and have some that I could bend to radius from windshield to along the front doors. The fuel gauge is provided by @AgileOffRoad.com with their Aux Fuel tank--you can watch my other video on that.

The voltage sensor displays appear to be blinking. These are OLEDs, and there is no apparent blinking when viewing with eyes, but the the video frame rate must create this effect. I'll post a future short video to detail these with photos or at a higher frame rate to show them without the blinking effect.

I used a frosted/translucent 1/8" thick acrylic with about a 60% light transmission. I mounted it to 2"x1/2" fiberglass U channels with threaded inserts inserted about every foot, screwing the panel into those. The U channel is attached perpendicularly to the factory ceiling ribs, screwed into threaded inserts in the factory holes in the factory ribs, so isolated from the ceiling panels. Two panels, custom cut, were 5feet wide by 8 feet long, cut to match wall contours (they curve along the length as well) and so only two pieces. Before installing the roof panels I installed strips of LED lights run along the entire length, three circuits of them--front, rear and a single down the middle. The ceiling panels let the light thru with a disused glow like daylight. Was a lot of work.
