Lots of various options on KZitem. If you want something very small but livable check out the Ford Transit Connect and Nissan NV200 with High Roofs. They're very fuel efficient & maneuverable. Kinda tight on space. If space is a priority then you have the bigger vans like this sprinter, transit, promaster and other old conversion vans... Plenty options out there and all these lovely KZitemrs Sharing their experiences. Much luck to you!!!!

You are right ;) I'd LOVE an NV15/25/3500 if they had longer lengths!!! A 12 or 14ft cargo box is what I'd like. But I guess with the long nose they don't want a longer tail maybe?? The Transit 3.5L V6 seems to be the most efficient gas engine out there. Any other options? I've been looking at www.iaai.com search transit -connect watching them fly off the shelves. Hopefully my funds get in order in the very near future... This unproductive job hunting as a minority female combat veteran is daunting and very disheartening :(

Love the LoopRope shout out. I'm the guy that invented the stuff and I'm here to tell you that it's truly a reinvention of the age old and very dangerous bungee cord. From lashing down gear to using as a clothesline to quick docking sport boats and jet skis to even using as a pet leash. There's not a bungee system on the planet as versatile as #LoopRope, it is the duck tape of bungee cords!

This is probably the best van conversion I've ever seen. Looks very clean inside and yet doesn't look clinical like many other designs I see. Recently, I was looking at the more complex designs which look more homely but now I have completely changed my mind and would have it very similar to you although I would fit in a small loo somewhere, haha.

All the people saying you got ripped off are full of it. that looks like about ~36ft of 1.5" square tubing which is about 100 bucks on its own and taking it to a powder coater that has a large enough oven to accommodate is around ~200 and when you factor in labour and time its a little pricey, but fair. It's like complaining about spending 10 bucks on pasta at a restaurant... annoying. Really cool build though

wow, you WAY over paid for your bed, $600 is insane, i have a full sized bed in my van, and the frame costed me $50 in lumber and screws. The sprinter van isn't economical either, bad gas mileage, and ultimately a bad transmission.

Do you live in this full time? Only additional things I think I'd want in a full-time van are some type of table - maybe one that hinges to the wall...and at least a 5 gallon jug of water for cooking and bathing with a solar shower. Built-in showers and toilets definitely aren't necessary. It's good to see a cheaper conversion option. Thanks for sharing!

Great set up. I found the bins at Costco for $8 also the puck lights for less than $19. I looked up the kitchen but it seems that all you get for $200 is just the box, no stove or other stuff. I wish that I had seen this three months ago. I was looking for a mattress solution. Iused the Froli Sleep System by Nickle Atlantic, LLC and put a mattress topper over it. That cost about $200 to $300. I mounted it on a wood frame made out of 2x4 that connect into the seat rungs with J bolts.

Thanks for the clip! I test drove a '16 144" Sprinter V6 Crew Van yesterday and it was awesome! I'm seriously thinking about trading my F150 in for it. One of the items that I wish to do is have a rooftop A/C unit installed on it since it gets so hot in Texas. Do you ever idle for long periods of time? The van I drove has an adjustable high idle switch to prevent the emission system from getting clogged up. Also, ,when you sleep in it, do you leave a window cracked open? THANKS!!
@BoutenkoFilms

Depending on where I sleep I crack either the windows or the doors. But I'm in Oregon where it's a lot cooler. I imagine in Texas, the top AC unit is a must. Just curious did you test drive the van after you watched the video or before. :-) Way to go!

BoutenkoFilms Gotcha. I test drove it before watching your video and after days of research, it seems like idling is the Sprinters enemy, directly affecting the EGR valve. Sure wish this wasn't the case or I'd be back at the dealer negotiating right now.

Best video of this kind I've seen in a while - you should give lessons to some of the other van dwelling youtubers. I think it must be your higher production values that make the difference, as well as your clear, succinct and no-nonsense dialogue. The amount of "umming" and poor sound quality on some of these videos makes them impossible to watch for more than 10 seconds. You, on the other hand, could get a job hosting a TV show for sure. I'd watch!

Tbh you could have used a good camping cot instead of the bed. You'd be able to just fold it up and store it away. I really want to get a sprinter van and just toss some basic camping equipment type stuff (little stove, maybe a small porta potty, folding cot, etc) and travel with it. Sucks the vans themselves are so damn expensive without any of the conversion stuff.

This is more or less what I'd like to do in my next van. A slide out kitchen is key but other than that this dude has figured out what I eventually have. The beautiful vans full off custom woodwork are nice but they are custom to you so resale is hard because the next person wants custom to them without paying a premium for your work and maybe more impotently the road puts a beating on your van. If you're doing it right anyways. More utilitarian is the way to go. I would add a little more design if it were me but the bed is nice and cargo nets are key. Coats, laundry, blankets, anything soft they are perfect for. Minimizing rattle is key too. My first build was tongue and grove pine and barn wood kitchen and a classic I want my van to look like an apartment or a cabin in my case kind of build. I had to keep the stero cranked to not hear my things moving and in the long run do twice as much work modifying it to shut that down. These tour video's are great I love seeing them but I wish more people would do honest down the road video's of lessons learned. I think a lot of first time builders would appreciate the opportunity to save some time and money on what doesn't work. My van has a blown head gasket now and is used as my nephews clubhouse so it's original design is awesome to them but in a do over scenario I wouldn't of gone with the look how cool my van looks version. Smart build bud!

the van alone is 27,000 - all the way up to 64,000 dollars so are we adding that to the conversion price? Just so people getting into #Vanlife know sprinter vans are some of the most expensive vans out there but most people doing this is because they don't have the choice or the money if you have 64,000 dollars buy a mobile home shit you can get a nice 3 bedroom 2 bathroom on the biggest lot in the park for that much plus pay for 3 years lot rent that being said if you really do have a passion for living in a van and love doing it more power to you

Buying a brand new van and spending $1200 on stuff that costs $400 tops doesn't seem like a huge savings over hotels. It's neat though.

I have those LED lights...got them at COSCO....not happy with them...they do everything you say but the batteries deplete rapidly..

Awesome van.. but why was the bed $600? wouldn't be more than $200 in materials and max $100 for the powdercoat?

I fully kitted out a van with folding bed to seats, cooker, storage units, leisure battery, water etc for £600...... ;)
