The ups and downs right? I’m totally impressed by 42 months of continuous life in one tank - most people can’t get past a year or two. Those acro colonies look amazing! 👍🏻👍🏻

Really nice colors on most of your corals! I’m having an issue with some algae also. I added a few new pieces of Marco rock in my 20 gallon reef, to hold a few new sps coral, and theYexploded with bryopsis and some hair. Only on those pieces. Good luck

Nice looking corals! I too lost my maxima clam, not sure why.. my guess is he starved as I only spot fed a few times when I first added it and it was about 3-31/2" in size. One thing I noticed with yours was a strong flow causing the mantle to flap.. I've heard you need a lower flow as they can be very delicate. Don't know if that was a concern for yours, just came to mind watching your video. Happy New Year!

The tank looks great! I have the same tank but can only dream of the colors you're having. :) Can you tell me more about your CuC? How many citters do you have in there? Just the 1 tuxedo urchin or multiple?
@TheBioReef
4 жыл бұрын
Roscoe Menke thanks. My cuc consists of a dozen or so black footed snails, a coupe of Mexican turbo snails, 2 types of sand dwelling snails (cerith? Nassarius?) two green emerald crabs, 2 tuxedo urchins. I also added 8 blue legged hermit crabs recently. The tang and the algae blenny also help with algae

The tank looks AMAZING as always. I hope you get to the bottom of the freak RTN issues I know that's not fun to deal with. I'm very excited to see how the IO vs TM salt experiment turns out, I'm very happy to see it's not just based on looks and that you did some testing, very impressive.

Nice update. Just wanted to let you know, ORA actually misidentified that piece. It was originally called ORA Hawkins Echinata. It is actually an Acropora turaki. If you look at the ORA site now, they completely omitted the "Echinata". Turaki are pretty hardy, I dont think you'll have problems with it. By the way, the Icefire Echinatas that are more difficult to take care of are the real A. echinatas.

Thanks Abe... that makes me feel better about the Turaki... what do you think of my PAR ranges ?

@@TheBioReef They look good to me! 👌👍 Edit: I missed the PAR numbers of the new frags. I agree, it's probably a little low and I agree you should turn it up a little on that side, especially if you are not happy with how they look.

Hi AmroAzul, Did you find that removing some of your sand-bed reduced your phosphate level ? I’m Deciding on wether to do that or just vacuum my sand bed. I only have an average of 1” crushed coral sand bed. Thanks
@TheBioReef
4 жыл бұрын
hard to tell as i intentionally dosed phosphates to keep levels above 0.1 ppm. I don't usually vacuum sand bed, but my wrasses and snails stir it up regularly
@TOMReefer

AmroAzul TV wow! Haha, I can’t imagine dosing phosphate. 😃 I’m trying to get mine to stabilize at around .1 I’ve heard quite a few reefers need to dose phosphate and nitrate. I believe in my case, 20 gallons certainly has to do with it. I could just be over feeding 😜
@Sky-ym3nb

Regarding your clam, from my experience it could be it’s getting too much flow and second it could also be a critter that’s eating it especially when the light are off .
@TheBioReef
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sky. Yes flow was a problem i think. Because of the SPS, there weren't many areas in the tank that have low flow. its a shame that i lost it :(
