Amazing! You make it look so simple but I know it isn't. Your ability to design radio circuits as you build them is most impressive and inspirational. Thanks and 73, de JS2OLO

Thanks for the nice comments. I have found that it is not always best to follow finished drawings when building a radio. You should often test slightly different values. Preferably with potentiometers before switching the fixed resistors. Or you can try completely new solutions.

Helge, this is a very good video! Your electronics knowledge is super, and the video you put on KZitem is also very good quality! I am wondering if you could build a small voltage multiplier, or some kind of vibrator power supply. This way you could operate from a 12 volt battery. The tube filaments could be powered from the 12 VDC (and a dropping resistor, as needed) and the high voltage for B+ power from a voltage multiplier. In any case, your TX and RX projects are SUPERB! Tks es 73!

Yes, I already made it. Here is the power I used in the video. However, I will also design a small power. I always use 12 volt heating in the projects. www.la6nca.net/homebrew/pow_tube/index.htm

Thanks for the projects Heige. Fun to watch. I am supposed to get a SP600jx17 receiver today. From your other videos it seems to me the Germans had more awareness of radio users needs than US in their WW2 radios. I think these videos will provide less fear of using tubes in projects. Ham world has been mostly transistor focused sine the 1970s. I see few home builders of ham gear. Parts are less common at hamfests. Thanks again for the videos. Jerry

Man this would be cool with a T/R relay and AF amp also in tins! Now I want to build some! For me, to go with the metal/glass aesthetic I'd use some vintage RCA phono plugs (tinned coper and phenolic insulators) and with RG-316 coax

👍Well done Helge. Amazing that you fitted all that into the small tin. I would use a larger box😂. I wonder why the RX stopped when you closed the lid? I wonder if it was capacitance? Some of the components being very close to RF ground with the lid closed? Did the glass fibre panel change the capacitance and fix the problem?
@LA6NCA

Thank you. When I closed the lid the coils changed their value. To prevent this, I removed the metal above the coils.

Nice! I wonder why you used the 6AK6 as a detector (small output tube)? Did it perform best? A small slow motion drive on the tuning cap would make tuning easier
@LA6NCA
Жыл бұрын
I tested several tubes and found the 6AK6 good. Got a sensitivity of 1uV. Heating volts is 12 Volts, so I had to have a resistor in series with the tube. 6AK6 has only 150 mA heating current. Yes, the tuning cap was not optimal. I had too large a frequency range. By reducing this, I could get an easier adjustment of the frequency.

Dette var skikkelig imponerende! Å få plass til at dette er godt gjort. Nå trengs bare en høyspenningsgenerator slik at sender og mottaker kan drives fra et 12V batteri!
