Great video, thanks. What's the rationale behind a standard squeeze being 4x (plus cold callers minus one)? Why is this the standard? Cheers

when the action gets back to us there is $1.70 in the pot. if we call, there will be 2.10 in the pot if we 4x it then we raise to $1.60 if we 6x it then we raise to $2.40 which is almost pot-sized in general we are discouraging callers (or at least getting a bunch of callers) while at the same trying to steal the dead money in the middle at a good price. tiny 3 bet raises (or squeezes) don't accomplish much as they offer too good of a price. I am surprised the original raiser ever folded. after the raise to 1.90, there was 3.50 in the pot and he only needed to call 1.50 so he is being offered 2.33 to 1 to call and if the first guy calls, there is a better chance that the next guy calls (and then the next guy, etc) as each following player is offered a better price due to the other callers fattening the pot. a raise to 2.40 would have made the pot $4.10 and he is offered only 2.05 to 1 to call.

Cheers Christopher! It's sizing that works well for both value and bluff hands, which is a good starting qualifier for any "standard" size.

@@ekw555 it's not an easy call for the original raiser unless he's got tens or jacks type of hand.. He's gonna have the most stupid position on the flop when they call behind him. Just no way you gonna net an average result better than -4bb with a hand like AQo here
@ekw555

@@dmtc6913 You may be giving the original raiser too much credit . most players at these stakes don't think about position and they certainly don't think in terms of EV. your point *is* valid, if we're talking about decent, thinking players. (I'm not convinced we are)

My standard squeeze is 3x plus 1 for each caller. And before I pull the trigger I ask myself what players are in the hand. Are they on inelastic range and I'm at the bottom of my range, I probably bet a little bit lower and vice versa

Be careful making your squeeze sizing face-up to thinking opponents. But I like your overall thinking!

@@MrMaccas94 I know actually. But I mostly play live, for about 2 to 3 hours each session. There is so much movement at the table, I rarely play the whole 2 hours against a specific opponent. In this time, I maybe have max. 3 opportunities to squeeze porfitable. With only 3 opp I don't think villain even figured out my default squeeze size. Never had the impression that I get exploited, Plus I only do it with my squeeze sizes. My RFI and 3bet sizes are always the same

Pretty sure the highest EV line is to just shove pre. All the possible outcomes are clearly winning if you shove : if you get called you're flipping at worst with a lot of dead money in the pot (so winning at least half the dead money in EV), and if everyone folds you net a 17bb profit for free. While if you squeeze small (or non all-in in general), it allows any of these guys to call to try to flop a pair which they're never folding at this SPR, and get max value off your unpaired high cards when they do, a clear -EV scenario. It's like stop & go's in tournaments, which is a classic exploit against players who make the mistake of raising small with broadway hands when they should be shoving them pre. I would even rather fold pre than do what our hero did : he literally got exploited by a fish.

Why do you assume, you are flipping at worst? What about AA and KK? Additionally, Villains can play pretty easy against that by only calling their best. I don’t even think, you get called by JJ or weaker Ax
@FefeLeVrai

@@toniweigl9783 Only one player can have AA and KK, which is the initial raiser. And AK blocks these hands, making them very unlikely. Anyways running AKs into AA or KK is a huge cooler and you have the exact same problem if you 3bet small instead of shoving anyways. If villains only call their best, it's a good thing for you. It's great when everyone folds, because you win 17bb when they do. And if they fold pocket pairs it's even better, getting people off a flip is a big win.

Shoving is likely a +EV option, but probably not the highest EV.
