I am new here. I am in art appreciation in college and we do painting and drawing and sculpting. I believe this will be my first painting outside of class. I'm more of a fan of the darker, odd things and I absolutely loved this.

Thanks so much Jane! These videos bring such joy, like many others on here your instructions have brought to like several amazing pieces in my house! This one was my first however, I used some different hues of purple in place of the greens so it matches my decor. It's my favorite piece in the house now! Thank you for the inspiration!

I love the Bill Nye painting/drawing on the wall. Haha. Anyway. I enjoyed this video. I'll definitely be checking out your other videos and maybe I will try doing one of the paintings with my own touch. Been trying to get myself back into the flow of painting. Currently working on a Radioactive Cowboy. Which is coming out good so far. Watching videos like yours helps me pick up new techniques to improve the quality of my art. When I first started painting I wasn't awful but comparing it to where I cam from with my performance for creating art there is definitely a major difference. It's like my drawings. I have a lot of my old stuff from when I was younger and keep it so if I ever meet someone who enjoys making art but thinks they will never be good I show them some of the old work next to some of my more recent art so they can see when I started off I wasn't great. It's a talent that has to be nurtured. If you don't tend to it then it won't grow into something beautiful.

Hi, thank you so for all I’m learning. I have a question. In some of your other videos you talk about not using water to thin your paint but use fluid medium. Because it will underbind the paint. So me being a perfectionist am terrified of useing water lol. Is it ok to use it sparingly to move paint like with tree branches or the tentacles but not like the white paint in glow forest? Oh and my cat loves to sit in my lap and watch you paint🥰
@PaintingwithJane
4 жыл бұрын
Aaaw! Tell your cat I said hi! Using water is perfectly fine. Just don't thin it down to the point where it's runny. The rule of thumb is no more than 25% water. I hope that helps!

@PaintingwithJane
8 жыл бұрын
Sarah Sherwood Thank you, Sarah! Yep, you can use any colors you like. You won't get quite as dark of a color with burnt sienna, but that's ok. If it's not dark enough, try mixing some other colors with the phthalo (on a paper or scrap canvas, of course) and see what you like best :)
