I usually go through the mental gymnastics of comparing the cost to an equivalent car part. Sram Red would go on a Porsche-equivalent bike, so how much does a Porsche transmission cost (~$6650). Still kinda wild that it’s barely double the price 😅

Im not sure what brand & model of car you are looking at. And my experience is that labour is always chunky with cars.

$650 for a cassette? Why not 10k straight?

2 by for gravel seems pretty reasonable versus that pricey cassette 😮

To be fair, if durability was a focus for these drivetrains without resorting to leading edge lubrication methods (wax), the price wouldn't be so hard to stomach.

How wild. 1:31 $750 for a cassette. No thanks, at least $650 too much.

I’d think the double disk will definitely become a thing, they wouldn’t do it for one rider in one race. Visma will definitely be using it in the right conditions from now on.

Reserve is NOT a sub-brand of Cervelo. Reserve was started about a decade ago by engineers from Santa Cruz. They started with MTB wheels. Now, Reserve, Santa Cruz, and Cervelo are owned by Pon Holdings. Do you guys actually do any research, or do you just make it up as you go along?

@@Autonomous_17 , no it's sloppy journalism. Now I get that most people don't give a shit about accurate information and journalism, but people should. One minute spent on Google would have corrected the false information presented in the video. Alas, the 'journalists" are too lazy to put forth the effort. Note that exaggeration doesn't really help your cause.

Let’s see I can get just the sram red rear, derailer and cassette for $1500 assuming you already had a sram system to pair it to. I have a wheeltop eds Tx electronic 2x13 at just under $1000 and the sram is….a joke. Yes it’s actually a 2x13 with a rotor 13s 10/36 cassette.

Or you could get an amazingly light 6.6kg rim brake Tour de France winning bike (from only a few years ago) with durace/sram red, lightly used from a dentist's garage, at about 10-20% of the cost. Don't fall for the NPC bullshit hype. Turns off your regular emotionless Rapha bike snob with a mediocre 300w FTP who thinks they're the shit.

Bicycle tech is primitive compared to that of a motor scooter but can cost 3 times as much. The bicycle industry needs a close look at their own greedy disposition, maybe it may dawn on them why a lot of people are seriously pi$$ed off and think twice about a bike purchase. I won't buy a new bike anytime soon but be extra careful with maintenance. Let the 'Fat Arse' bike brands go broke.

Cannondales 8.67 kg. (Shimano105) 4500 B.P. in 2024. My 2016 Canyon weighs 6.7 kg. (Shimano Ultegra, manual shifting, rim brakes) and cost me $3200. It is still driven hard and in mint condition due to proper maintenance. I'd never buy a new bike at these rip off prices.
