Teachers,medics should earn more in Kenya than those mps and MCAs for God's sake... government is really frustrating other carders and professions in Kenya,,,one of my lectures ones said "ukitaka salary for not working vie for political seat",,, very unfortunate! Just MCA in the village getting salary over 300k while bachelor degree holder in teaching getting 30k,,, it's so unfair

You are the one who is living in fear of MPs. When you apply for a job and you are aware of the salary and Remuneration attached to the job you are applying for, you can't complain when you get the job about the new salary structure. Benefits cannot be and should not be changed downwards within the life of a Parliament. However terms can be reviewed for a new Parliament. MPs knew the terms attached to being an MP when they ran for those posts. Those who don't like the terms can resign and seek employment elsewhere.

Salaries are not voted on by MPs. SRC's constitutional mandate to determine salaries and Remuneration of state and public servants is not a shared responsibility. It is singularly the mandate of SRC! No voting by MPs is required.

They can't. They used to threaten the Chairperson of SRC with sacking but that yielded no fruits. SRC is constitutionally mandated to do what they are doing. It is an allowance depending on the kilometers an MP might have to travel to visit his constituency. It would be unthinkable to treat an MP from a Nairobi constituency in the same way an MP from Mandera is treated.
@samuelkaranja.5788

@@georgeodhiambo598 They don't need that. Do teachers get allowances for where they travel everyday? How many people are employed in Nairobi and have allowances to travel home? We treat them as demigods. They are among the highest paid members of parliament in the world yet we are struggling to feed the nation. It's not politics nor rocket science but easy for a common person to understand.

@@samuelkaranja.5788 MPs operate very differently from teachers. Their legislative workplace is in Nairobi but their "field" place of work is in their constituencies. It would be unfair to pay all of them a flat rate. So they claim mileage in relation to reasonable trips done and in relation to how far each constituency is from Nairobi. It is quite logical.
