I'm currently in pakistan and made this recipe according to recipe. My watalappan became too sweet.otjerwise the texture, the colour everything was perfect. Yr recipe is good.i will add 250 g for 10 eggs

I tried this recipe, it really came out well it was sooooo yummy, I couldn't get kithul hakuru but it was perfect even with seeni hakuru Masha Allah. Thank you for the recipe♥️😋

Beautiful method! Thanks for the recipe.. well done ! It's much nicer without cardamoms !! One quill of Cinnamon is more than enough!! Muslims / Malays they put one Cinnamon Quill and take it out after cooking! To get rid of the egg smell add 2 tea spoons of Vanilla. Light brown Palm Sugar is the best for Watalappam!!! Thank You!!!

This is how my mother in law taught me to make. But we don't heat the coconut milk, it gives a oily effect. Make the honey, cool it then add the milk. Adding a little bit of cloves and nutmeg enhance the flavour. We usually close and steam using a newspaper in between.

Yes I think you are correct. Cos if you leave it open when steaming , all the steam from the lid will fill up the dish and it will be soggy . Adding Nutmeg and cloves will give additional aroma and flavour to the watalappan. Thanks for sharing your experience too. Appreciate very much ❤🙏

Sorry to say don't boil the coconut milk and no need caramel if you have good kithul jaggery not the colour but the real walappam taste not suger taste. Yes true must beat by hand as we strain at the end no need to worry to take those pieces at the beginning, WE MELT THE JAGGERY WITH A HALF A CUP OF WATER AND BRING TO BOILING THEN JUST 1 TABLE SPOON SUGER SO NEED TO GRATE THE JAGGERY. Yes you are correct when adding and after adding coconut milk dont beat . As i know cinnamon no. Cardamon vanilla Yes. AND I STEAM LIKE AT WEDDINGS 3/4 CUPS IN A BIG PAN IN JUST 20 MINTS.

This is the correct method of making wattalappam... my mum usually make this method....but she is no more now ... i miss her very badly😢😢😢 No need to cover with foil Don't use salt No need to use nutmeg
