There has been a lot of emails, facebook messages and comments regarding going into more detail about these vacuum line setups and how to complete your own cars. I have a list of things people wanted clarified. Next time there is a free moment with a stock turbo SRT-4 neon in the shop ill go ahead and make another more detailed video of the actual process in sort of a how to format so people can better understand what im doing and why. Most of the local SRTs in the area that come in are big turbo at this point and these systems are long gone so its far and few between when stock turbo/ stock solinoid cars even come in anymore so it may be a bit of a wait.

So... I have an SRT-4 that I got as my first car from my dad. He had blown it years earlier n things happened. So I've been rebuilding it, from replacing the busted windshield from an axe breaking it, to drop in an engine from a pt cruiser etc. My dad had this car since I was a baby in a car seat, and he knew that it wouldn't get to driving as my first car cause I'd have to learn like he did. Problem is that we have gotten to the point it should be running. But a few things are happening when we start it. It starts, and it takes a little bit for it to idle correctly instead of at 1100-1500 RPM, second when reving the turbo spools up rly high at like 1200 rpm. On top of that I don't think my waist gate is engaging at all. My key dance throws codes for 2 solenoids, which I replaced with my dad's other SRT4 ones that worked to see what was up. One of the codes were gone, but I still had one with the waistegate actuator. On top of all that my dad also thinks that the pcm isn't right, because the ignition thing was busted to all hell in the years it sat. So me n dad pulled another steering column and replaced that whole thing which has a new key n ignition and pcm or whatever. I replaced all three with my battery disconnected so I don't get locked out. Then on top of that my dad lighly test drove it around a small square ally way (since he is the best driver I know especially with manual, I completely trust his driving) and he said the suspensions feels fucked up too. I do not know everything and my dad works a lot, and is also vague on what he tells me to do without him (cause I need to learn). I don't know everything n I don't pretend to. Ive turned to the forums but I couldn't find anyone who has this waistegate/turbo/vacuum line problem. Cause when I troubleshoot 1 thing, it's another thing, or another thing, n it runs me in circles and the car kinda passes me off a lot. The cars name is Bossy so ig that's a given... it's black and I believe its 05 with sunroof. Don't know if you could help, but I thought it'd be cool to share my SRT4 story wit ya. I got plans to do a lot

can you take a more described video on where that vac line goes from the middle of the cai to the evap? i just noticed my line is also going to the nipple from the back of the turbo also. and yes u r right that all the turbo is doing is putting boost into the cai. lol. so i just need to see where exactly do i route that line? goes to cai to evap? can u make a video about that please?

You can block off the portion going to the back nipple of the turbo if you go this route and just keep the vacuum flowing through it. Its all a bit of a rats nest but it would makes sense this way and blocking off the port that normally connects to the compressor housing so essentially it goes straight to the intake pipe itself. Ill be making a more clear video soon

I realize that this video is old, but in the clip at the end, the car makes a loud "screaming" sound around 5k, mine does the same thing. Any idea what it is?
@BuiltPerformanceLLC

Its just the design of the turbo and specifically the compressor wheel in this video anyway. Without seeing or hearing yours in person you can judge based on other videos of them with intakes if it sounds the same. Otherwise you may have a boost leak if you feel it sounds fairly abnormal. On stock solenoids The compressor can almost sound robotic and scream at certain RPM, with an aftermarket WGA you get the same but much less "stepped" of a sound if that makes sense. If your still wondering about yours try finding a video of a big turbo car WITHOUT externally dumped wastegate so you can hear the spool or going through the rpm basically to see that only stock turbos sound weird like that. Fairly unique to the SRT4 neons.
@davehenry3721
3 жыл бұрын
@@BuiltPerformanceLLC yeah, mine only does it at and over 5k. Boost leaks were all buttoned up recently, and it did it with both the stock and current BWS turbos. I only noticed it after the driver side able and wheel bearing were replaced, but maybe that a coincidence since the solenoids are there also.

Hey I think someone did this to mine it’s just I’m confused it’s still in there with nothing connected to it I’m getting a code p1105 Barometric Pressure read solenoid circuit do you have any idea why my car is throwing this code please respond it’s my last check engine I’ve had 5 and I can’t figure it out in the beginning I thought it was my map but I replaced it and nothing then went to the tip it was just hanging and finally I’m at the solenoid I know it’s been a while since you posted this video but please get back to me

Baro is read and referenced from the TIP sensor and normally whats triggering this code. Of course without seeing the actual reading on a scanner during use etc i couldn't say for certain but i can say thats normally the case id be checking the wires going to the tip which is normally near the fenderwell (i assume you know here) unless its moved. Even if its not connected to anything and just reading open air thats fine but needs to be working so if you dont have access to a logging device of some sort i would simply replace the TIP sensor, clear codes and that will normally resolve it. Again these type of situations benefit greatly from being able to see raw data or even freeze frame data the PCM captures when the check engine light is triggered to see what is out of range and why. Wires to a lot of the sensors in the engine bay of these cars now that they are geting older are effectively becoming worse and worse though mopar still sells the rewire kits to replace connectors with pigtails if needed but youd need to check resistence with a multi meter etc etc its all a deep hole and why most people dont even begin the process as its time consuming but the answers are always there.

@@BuiltPerformanceLLC so after about 3 weeks of me staring at this I realized I have a 3 bar tip sensor it seams old and a oem map sensor I got a multimeter and it reads nothing before I buy a 80 dollar sensor I’m just curious if you could tell me if having a bad tip sensor could cause a bad sending power and ground to all read zero I’m not getting any codes from my iat I believe both iat and tip are on the same power/sending NOT 100 percent positive but ya please get back to me no mechanic wants to look at it

I know you leave them plugged in and just hide the solenoids but as far as the tip goes do you put it on the charge side of the pipe or were do you feed the line
@BuiltPerformanceLLC
6 жыл бұрын
You leave it open to the air, the pcm uses it to determine barometric pressure and adjust your fueling accordingly. When the car is stock it will reference it to check boost as well but doesnt do anything with the information like staged pcms 2 and 3 do. If you have a stage 2 or 3 PCM it also monitors boost pressure and compares with map sensor, wga duty, commanded boost etc to make sure its within parameters of the tune loaded which makes it easier to throw overboost code and other tune related issues.

I know i need a aftermarkt blow off and and waste gate to get ridof the sol forgive me for my stupidity here so i need these to dump the solinods but will a trinity tune take care of the overboost if i leave the tip open or any codes that may come or do i need a custom tune file for it im looking to do some mods for now wastegate and in er cooler and tune late big turbo full build
@BuiltPerformanceLLC
6 жыл бұрын
Yes a trinity will take care of it for you if you just plan to do wga, bov, and the canned tune. Later on you can get a vehicle specific tune to make more power and go with whatever mods you decide to end up with like big turbo etc. If you want to do anything else special like you mentioned in your other comment you can get a vehicle specific tune and just remove the solinoids completely not having to leave them in and remove anything else you dont want on it.

Currently not supporting diablosport email tunes only HPtuners at the moment. If your local or willing to make a trip out it can be vehicle specific (Appleton, WI). Otherwise the canned version of our tune can be sent to a local tuner/person with HPtuners to upload to your vehicle if you provide your vin. Email Builtperformance1@gmail.com

Yes you can, however the stage 2 PCM references both the map and tip since there 3bar so you need to have a solid boost source (top of the tb) going to both of them that match (T it off) or it will throw a fit.

If your running the factory bypass then youll need to keep the lines that allow it to function, they act strange working in old school ways as there not meant to see the pressures you get when modified. If your running no bov at all then sure.
