I love my Springfield TRP Operator full rail. It produces a ragged hole at 10 yards in. Being older now with older eyes, my Glock 22 converted to 357 Sig or my Glock 19…both with red dots are the ticket. KKM barrels make them accurate and I can completely strip and detail both. The 1911 takes a bright light, magnifier and a steady hand to do the same. I’ll always have my 1911…when the bull barrel locks up….that’s what a pistol is supposed to feel like. Shoot straight and safe….

M45A1 is as accurate as .45 ACP , even more so, but colt new gun in next few years will make this look archaic and obsolete . My Spartan brother , an initiate into the Achilles Patroclus order , an eldest son of hp had this , a Harrovian boy and sandhurst alumni, we had good time using it in his usual shooting haunts and hunt scouting grounds both here in uk and abroad. Fun times. Shooting outdoors event took place , was sparse and before covid it was filled to the brim including with NRA uk people and young shooting enthusiasts . Let’s make responsible gun ownership and rifle shooting fun for all ages, don’t let this brilliant sport go underground , it will make things go awry and many more will own guns unbeknownst to law, reason must go hand in hand with law, let people have fun responsibly and this way you will have responsible gun owners who respect law. It has to be more about holding on to 'tradition' rather than making tactical sense, going with a single-stack 1911 as a military sidearm today. Just in weight and capacity alone, there are so many more sensible choices. If they were determined not to go with 9mm, then they could have at least gone with the Glock 22 in .40 like Army Delta did. 1911 is still wonderful shooting, great design, but yes I do believe it is obsolete as a military sidearm/backup compared to other options...and even in .45 if it was somehow a primary weapon, in this setting. Frankly I'd be rather put off if I were on SRT that they weren't giving me a better tool in my package when they easily could have. Maybe they're trying to desperately make some use of their original procurement rather than admitting and absorbing the mistake. Again, I own and love 1911's as guns, but for this duty use, it definitely strikes me as a step backwards.
@jmgonzales7701

So 45 acp isnt really a good choice anymore? Is it because of the recoil? How did warfare evolve that makes the 1911 obsolete? Is it like revolvers nowadays?
@Fugettaboutit
2 жыл бұрын
@@jmgonzales7701 It's not so much that the .45 itself is a bad or less ideal round. More about the overall platform for the task of a military sidearm, and the advantages in capacity and size/weight that 9mm guns provide. Weapons and needs keep evolving as warfare does. Look at how we went from decades of .30-06 and .308 in our main infantry rifles rot 5.56x45/.223. There's more tat went into that decision than just the caliber itself.

a complete waste of money. Everyone involved with forcing this 100 year old antique on the Marine Corps should be investigated for corruption. I know the 1911 is "cool" I have two of them, but "being cool" is not what the USMC or any military organization is for. Even if there is an argument to be made for .45 ACP, there are loads of pistols chambered in this round that are more accurate more reliable have a high capacity are lighter and are easier to maintain.

Does it shoot? Does it shoot a man stopper round? Can be be counted on to work when you need it? If thr answer to all 3 us yes, then it is bot obsolete. Before you bring up how unreliable it is, when we say "1911" we are referring to a platform design. We are not referring to any manufacturer. 1911s are made from world class high quality manufacturers to mid pack to 3rd world pot metal manufacturers. Good quality manufacturers with good quality magazines will produce good reliable 1911s. Junk manufacturers using junk parts and trash magazines will always give yiu problems. So get a good quality manufacturer that use good quality parts and good quality magazines and you will be fine.
