Hi love your videos but have a question about the difference between watts on amplifiers, if your testing in rms is there a difference between Pmpo( peak music power output) as when you look at stereos in a retail store they’ll say 50w rms then in brackets ( 200w pmpo) I’m no expert or claiming this to be right would just like to know what’s the difference if there is one and what’s the best make of amps on the market today? I used to have 2 directed 1100ds and 2 15” T. rex subs that’s 16 years ago now and finding something good in the uk is hard everything seems to be subs with built in amps , seems like car audio isn’t that popular anymore

Starting to Bing your videos and it's great to see my suspicions confirmed. Up until you, I was recently just getting only externally fuzed amplifiers of fear of cheap caps and internals not being up to par. This is no guarantee of an amp being better, but my thinking is that if they care to put external fuses for the longevity of an amp, then in a perfect world the fuses should be what saves your amp from frying if it we're to short or a million other bad situations that could occur in line after the main in line fuzed. I started figuring they would rate these ideally to what the internal components could handle.

yeah i was thinkin same thing...and it says max - never says 5krms anywhere(most boss, power acoustik, planet audio, etc all do about 1/3 of rated power) [if it says 5000max it = 1700ish on music / 2500rms = 800rms certified maybe over 50% on a good day...but obviously this amp still would never touch 5k even on 40volts lmao but still for a cheap everyday amp for music not bad for price. i mean hell a normal 1.5k is like 400 bucks

I have been trying to get a few others to run a test on the Kenwood KAC-9106D with no luck so far. I feel it would be a good amp to test because 1. it is a name brand amp 2. it isn't low budget but it is a budget minded amp 3. it claims to put out 1000W RMS @2ohm which is right in the ballpark for many running a pair of 10's, budget 12's or a single nice 12. @MrDelsoleg11
4 жыл бұрын
@@rickytrevino8281 honestly I only buy from brands that are known to put out rated or under rated power, like kicker rockford or alpine. Skar, sundown and all those Taiwan usually make mkre power then rated but are not the best in quality and reliability it's a hit or miss with them most of the time. If it's made In china it's usually over-rated and again even if it hits rated they are also hit or miss. If you're on a budget and just want something to bump in your car always buy an amp with external fuses so you can see for yourself the amount of amperage it can pull. Add the total fuse amperage then multiply that by 10 to get it's rough watt output capabilities.
@rickytrevino8281

@@MrDelsoleg11 Lol what thats dumb youre going to purposely buy underpowered amps? Every amp can have a external fuse you just add it when you upgrade the wiring, unless its like some like highschool kid buying kicker kits that doesnt know what hes doing I have a Skar 2000.1D pushing 2300w RMS to 3 SA12s, that's been my daily for the past two years. Flexes my roof and shakes the exterior trim on my doors. LOVE the Sundowns, kinda like the Soundstream. It DOES have 6-30 amp fuses on it, and it rocks the 12s on 50% gain, so it does what I need it to do.

Hey buddy, you gotta get a signal generator so you can set a sweep between two desired frequencies. I have one on my iPhone. The quality is good, and that doesn't matter too much anyway since it's on the front end of the amp. A sweep test will give a better idea of the amps power in actual musical use rather than the burst tone test. I swear you'll have good results bro. Let me know what you think. Just set the sweep that mimics your favorite "jam", then you can even set the speed, and length. I think it'll be a great test for you to add to the battery of tests you already run. Come visit Wilmington this summer and look me up! S

Not a badly made amp for the price. It uses no-name caps but that is the case with any product in this price range. The power rating may be over optimistic but still its a nice looking amp, and over 1200W. It doesn't come with a name you can brag to your friends about but if you can live with that I'm sure this amp will be more than enough to drive a couple 12's and even a 15.

So many times you line these amps up and shoot them down, but if they rated this as a 1500 watt amp at the price point and they'd be the deal of a lifetime

1800 watts for $120 it's still not a bad deal. I wouldn't expect the quality to be any good or be reliable but, I suppose it would get you by in a pinch or for somebody just starting out it would be a pretty good deal.

I had one of these, but the EV4000 version (got it for $40) on a single 10 inch sub (vids on channel) and it did great. Surprised me. Just dont go crazy with it if anyone is thinking of buying these amps. I used 8 gauge ofc wire on the 4000 version.

1,761 watts and 238 amps is terrible. I see a bunch of bad alternators in the future. I cant remember right off but didn't the 3000 version of this amp do just as well?

@Digital__rb

Youre better off going with the skar audio 2000 watt, its twice the price but over twice the wattage and can actually put out above 2000 RMS, you dont wanna underpower your subs, it sucks
@Digital__rb

BionicBlitz subs can generally take more wattage than their rated for as long as its clean power (no distortion)

If you ever get the chance I'd like to see the hifonics x14 on the dyno. Simply because most of the hifonics are rated at max wattage, but the x14 series are rated at rms.

Honestly, this strikes me as made or designed by the same people as the Boss AR4000D you did. Same finish, same controls and layout, same assembly style and screws etc. Similar power. Either way not an awful amp to get started with but not a fantastic amp admittedly. Do really dig the look though. Not a bad looking amp

+herbyverstink Awesome, I've heard good things about the 8100D's. $400 isn't bad for those back in the day, I paid $275 (plus tax) for my Rockford Fosgate Punch 45HD back in 1991. It was only rated for 70x1 at 4 ohms

@LUMBERJACKDA

+allmotorhash it just means only half the power it draws will be sent to your speakers the rest will be wasted as heat. AB isnt bad but when its high power like that it can strain your electrical system.

Thanks for testing amps in ways that most of us can't. I hope u know we appreciate it. How come u don't test JL audio amps? Haven't seen a dyno anywhere for the jlslash1200v3. Would like to know wat i paid for, I do love the amp but would like to know if it truly deservs it. Lol.
@kaiserc2471

That's not bad for 120 bucks though. I'd suspect it'll have heat issues from lack of heat sink space, but overall it seems good.
