Caves are not for fire departments they don’t train to go into caves they’re not professional cave explorers. Realistically fire men are just normal dudes who have a little training.

"Only trained professionals should enter them". What a mindlessly elitist comment. While it's true that untrained and inexperienced dabblers should avoid caves and cliffs, there are thousands of highly experienced cavers and rock climbers who are typically more expert than most rescue squads who do this on a very limited basis. I know, because I have trained both groups in vertical and cave rescue techniques, and the experienced cavers are more competent than fire-department rescue squads, who typically end up calling the amateur cave rescue groups to bail them out.

If only Melvin Carter was 1% as competent as these firemen, St Paul might be something again
