It really is impossible to dislike any St. Vincent song after you hear Annie do an acoustic version of it.

She did a similar thing at the end of "Los Ageless" on CBC. One of the most amazing pieces of guitar work I've and then, when she's done, just this little like "well, that could have probably been better" sort of shrug.

Verse 1] I sway in place to a slow disco And a glass for the saints and a bow for the road [Pre-Chorus] Am I thinking what everybody's thinkin'? I'm so glad I came, but I can't wait to leave? [Chorus] Slip my hand from your hand Leave you dancin' with a ghost Slip my hand from your hand Leave you dancin' with a ghost [Verse 2] There's blood in my ears and a fool in the mirror And the bay of mistakes couldn't get any clearer [Pre-Chorus] Am I thinking what everybody's thinkin'? I'm so glad I came, but I can't wait to leave? [Chorus] Slip my hand from your hand Leave you dancin' with a ghost Slip my hand from your hand Leave you dancin' with a ghost [Outro] Don't it beat a slow dance to death? Don't it beat a slow dance to death? Don't it beat a slow dance to death? Don't it beat a slow dance to death? Don't it beat a slow dance to death? Don't it beat a slow dance to death?

Several things on this album (including this song) actually sort of remind me of her work in Marry Me. I think she is just writing, as she has always written, what she wants to write. I had the same reservations as you voiced when I first heard the album, but I find that St. Vincent's works (unlike most other artists') appreciate over time and further listens, and this album is no exception. Also, for me, the emotional content of this song really shone through even more in this acoustic version than in the studio version, and I've come to appreciate it more just now. Lastly, it is 2018, grow up, eat ass or get out
