My dad has been using Johnson levels for years and they’re pretty ok for about a year. Then they start messing up. I would get the set but I wouldn’t use them when we float showers. They’re worth the price though. It’s a luxury having such a beautiful tool

To get more accurate in trim nd door installation as finish carpenter, considered Stabiia, Sola and Johnson Ultra. I purchased the Sola Big Red have a bubble that is quick and easy to read in the dim lignting as has luminous scrip and in full sunshine outdoors. 'Check the out, at tool dealer compared the two even the clerk perfered the sola. Either case are both expert grade levels

Are there any levels where the marks are as wide as the bubble? Because if there are 10mm left and 10mm right of the bubble...

I’ve always got the best empire levels they have but I’m thinking it’s time to upgrade to stabilla I’ve been in the trades for over 15 year’s and plan on doing this for the rest of my life so might as well get the best tools right

I use Empire levels too and see no need to pay extra for Stabila. What is inadequate about Empire levels that you feel you need to spend extra on Stabila?

is there much advantage of buying the 80cm Stabila over the 60cm Stabila? I just need for home usage and the price difference is only $9 AUD more....

Just depends on what size objects you tend to level a lot really, does one size fit in the area better or the other? Pictures etc probably not a big deal at all, towel bars and things like that may need longer

lol so here is my story about this. I decided that my 78" level had seen better days so after work one day I went to my local power tool store and bought a stabila 78" level and the bag that holds 6 different size levels. so the level was 235.50 and the bag 69.00 327. ish all together. the next morning at work I pull me new level out and realized that there were 2 big Knicks in the metal and then was powder coated over and 1 of the plum vials was giving me 2 different readings from 1 side vs the other side the other 2 vials were dead on. so I took it back right then and there. it was the only one they had in stock so this time I ordered the full set of 6 for $535.00 I don't have them yet but I hope I did not make a mistake. hopefully I get a good set of levels 🙏

Just got a R beam 96 but I think I should have got the extended level instead but I always wanted a R Beam feels good. I do own a 4ft with the red and white handles and a 2ft extended door jammer level

Those R beams look super nice, I haven’t bought one yet though. I’ve been strongly considering my next Stabila to be the digital angle gauge. That just looks so handy to have!

@@MillisConstruction yeah... I think I with get one more STABILA R-Beam maybe a 2ft or 4ft. Like I stated before I have a 2ft but it’s the jammer 24-41” and it’s so nice I don’t want to keep using it in dirty situations. I rather keep it for finish work. I do want the digital angle finder and the STABILA green laser vertical and horizontal but I have a Bosch one already. Hey man I can’t keep up😂😂😂

Those 1889 levels are nice for pulling mud shower pans , pulling planipatch and other leveling , fill and or ramping materials. However , if you prefer you can lug your straight edges around , with your levels.
@MillisConstruction

I’ve been too paranoid to do that with any of the stabilas. Do they clean up pretty good?
@peskycitizen3124

@@MillisConstruction Yes , clean as you go . Also $90.00 USD for straight edges. $90.00 USD for the 1889 levels. I have both, but don't carry my straight edges with me every day, only if i know i'm doing mud work.

Yes, better than using my 4 foot digital stabila as a rod stick or Darby for concrete. Clean up good enough to use again the next day. Have to check grade usually put poly tape on the bottom and handle to help mitigate.

Maybe a little awkward question but could a small electric level like 40 cm, replace a much bigger level like 200 cm?
@cloggedpitot1
4 жыл бұрын
I wouldnt do it for everyday applications digital or standard. Its not that either level is more accurate than the other, but that the surface you are checking is not perfectly straight. The longer levels really are preferable when the surface being checked is long as well. A possible work around would be to have a robust steel straight edge that you could magnetically attach a shorter level to. Hope this helps. Accurate levels are extremely important.

Anybody who needs a beep and a digital display to tell them if something is level shouldn’t be using a level in the first place.

Really depends on what you’re doing. ADA inspectors use these to check your work in handicap bathrooms for grab bars etc and will fail you if you’re off perfect. This way I don’t have to worry about that issue since I’m using the same level they use 😊 Thanks for being here!

This is the kind of statement coming from carpenters that still tuck their tee shirts into their jeans. Soooo many people get “ stuck” in their glory years “ why back in my day, we didn’t use air nailer”” Good old wood ladder is all ya need! A string and a hammer! I’ve been a carpenter for over 20 years I promised myself to never turn into the old guy that’s stuck in 1990 I don’t use knob and tube wiring on my houses. I use sheet rock instead of wood and lath I use cordless nail guns And I use laser levels ( beeping and all) I can build level with all techniques ( including using a tube filled with water) But I like my beeping stuff! Get with the times! 1980 is gone

Netjem44 00 you’d be suprised! I’m a lot younger than you imagine and I’m not a carpenter. My point a tradesman should posses the skill as a necessity to be able to use a regular level. If someone has to rely o a digital display to tell them if a bubble is in the centre of 2 lines then I honestly wouldn’t trust that persons skill to do work for me. It’s yet another of inventing a tool to make money from people by solving a problem that doesn’t exist in the first place.

Cut the Crap you’ve obviously never had to install anything long and heavy that needs to be level by yourself. No I don’t need the tone feature to do it but It would definitely be handy. For example suspending long joints of steel pipe from a ceiling. Install your hanger on one end and insert your pipe, place your fancy level tone level on the pipe and raise the other end until you hear the solid tone. You have a free hand to take your measurement for the next hanger and don’t have to try and watch your level and the tape measure at the same time while trying to hold a 200 lbs section of pipe perfectly level by yourself

@@GhostofCTC .......A digital level is more accurate and can be used for anything you can't see while adjusting. Like leveling cabinets without getting up and down multiple times because you can hear it when it's level.

Check out the How Far Out tm level gauge at www.howfarout.com. Our Stabila Plug-n-Play model mounts instantly to any Stabila 96/196 or Tech series level to give quick precise surveys of out-of-level/plumb conditions. As a millwork installation specialist, I invented it for close-quarters work in older structures. A single HFO Plug-n-Play gauge can be used with multiple Stabila levels. It simply snaps on and off by taking the place of the Stabila removable end cap. We also offer a Universal model that includes a magnetic adapter. It can be used with Stabila XTL, 108T, and 80T, as well as other premium brands.
