As an admittedly biased season ticket holder for the rays, the trop has that weird carpet like look to the field, like the thing you play your first basketball games on as a 1st grader, BUT the drinking rails, other amenities, cool variety of things to do and the rays tank is pretty cool. They also used to have their own mini baseball museum/hall of fame exhibit up in the 300 level that got shut down and never reopened after COVID but that was one of the neatest things I'd ever seen

I agree with you 100%. I live in L.A. so I have only been to the Coliseum twice but the "history written on the walls" was awesome to see. It's been over a decade since I have been there but watching games the seats may be empty but the crowd that does show up is still passionate and the drums and cowbells deserve better than a 0/10. He was definitely too hard on them.

I agree, I think it’s a pretty cool stadium, always thought so as a kid too. I drove down last week to see the mariners play there, I really enjoyed the ballpark. I think Mount Davis is cool. The dual big screens, the big foul grounds, the view of San Fran from the upper deck, all the cool murals of former players. I don’t see how the seating is “bad” like people say. There are seats, they are relatively close or far to the action depending on where you sit, and last I checked the seats are faced toward the field. I also love the ballpark being surrounded by a giant parking lot, better than trying to park near Seattle’s stadium. Also, fans tailgate in the parking lot

I'd pick the Coliseum over the Trop due to it's natural grass and open-air characteristics. I'm not a fan of ballparks when the roof is closed, and at the Trop, it's always closed. Plus, the roof at the Trop looks unsightly from inside the ballpark and the catwalks don't help. I know it's a personal preference, but give me a sunny day at the Coliseum vs. any day at the Trop.

As a Rays fan, heres a few comments on the Trop. Interior: I wish they would paint the inside walls blue or yellow but overall, its been a nice look on the inside. Theyve upgraded to large screens on the rightfield area which really gives the stadium a major league vibe and the outfield area adds a bit of character. I personally like the Tropicana sign that will flash when a homerun or win occurs. Exterior: Oaklands exterior looks depressing. Tropicana's does have a uniform color but they attempt to give it a ballpark vibe. They have large baseballs on the top of each support structure and the atriums have the Rays blue and yellow colors along with their outside entertainment area. The roof is slanted for 2 reasons. 1. AC costs (its Florida during summer, WE NEED IT) and 2. Hurricanes, a slanted roof will help wind go down it causing little damage. Feature: The Ray tank is really cool. They are not only on display, it is a touch tank so, you can touch the sting rays. Atmosphere: The Rays have invested themselves in being a fun and young team. The color lights , the uniforms, the horn and superfans like Cowbell Kid (watch any Rays game and youll hear a loud cowbell in the background, thats him) The Rays are trending upward. For those who argue that the Rays should have a no roof stadium, go to any Minor League game outdoors in Southern Florida during the afternoon and youll see why its needed.

The trop is actually a good ballpark for Florida it has way more character than a lot of parks. The biggest issue is where its located the second issue is its not exactly ADA or elderly accessable with there only being one access road and a mote of water on 2/3rds of the outside of the stadium it is not easy for people to get into the stadium via parking and road access. It's actually awful like beyond it! The first game I went to was the Yankees game on the 7th and they said the attendance was like 20k which is not fully sold out for that park... it took well over an hour to go from the interstate exit to me parking the grid lock is unreal down by that park and its no surprise when you mix in the lack easy access for elderly and ADA that they have attendance issues. Florida especially in the Tampa region is still pretty heavy on the elderly and a lot of them probably do want to go or can afford it but if they have ever gone to the park it's easy to see the attendance issues. The trop probably could double its attendance numbers if it had better infrastructure for it. The park imo is a lot better than people make it out to be they blame the park not the area. The park honestly is one of the best indoor venues I have ever been too its way more cozy and really nice inside.

You're hating too much on the Coliseum. How can you give it 0/10 for the interior? I mean, multi-purpose or not, just look at the first picture - i'd much rather sit there and sip my beer on a warm summer day than at the Trop. I'm sure the old concrete dump atmosphere has its charms. Also, the large foul territory may put people further away from the field, but makes for interesting running plays and gives it something unique. Baseball is meant to be played outdoors!

@@marblox9300 I'm from Milwaukee and I kind of agree. I mean I always appreciate that it has a roof so we never have to worry about rain delays but the more other ballparks I visit, the lower AmFam Field moves in my rankings list.
