My car is drop in 19x11 and 19x9.5 forgestar cf5. Currently the only performance mods are a set of a borla s axlebacks and a Bama Tune. Next mod will probably be the Cobrajet Manifold for sure. I am looking at the Cobra Jet as the next mod :)

Hey Justin, I love the matte white stripes on gloss white. I've got a Performance White 09 GT and I really want my car to be one-off and unique especially with the stripes. I don't want to do the regular blue, red, or black le mans stripes and to be completely honest I thought of the idea of doing the matte white on gloss white about a month ago because I had never seen it before. I've got another very unique stripe design in mind but if it doesn't work out, matte white just might be my backup plan cause it looks really tasteful on your 14'.

Justin, thanks for the video and especially for the dyno numbers. This has got me thinking a little. I have a '12 GT with the following mods: JLT CAI, stock throttle body, Boss manifold, Kooks mid-length headers, O/R Kooks xpipe and Bassani axle backs. Pro Dyno down here in Fort Mill, SC tuned it conservatively (I run pretty fat instead of lean on the air/fuel ratio) and I put down 433 whp and 390lb torque to the wheels. I know that the main difference between our setups is the Kooks headers, but your video has got me wondering if the Ford Racing manifold and throttle body are worth the extra $ when compared to my setup. Do you think that headers will add more than 18lb ft of torque?I know that the torque curves are probably totally different but I'm anxious to see what numbers you come up with when you add the longtubes. We've all heard that the Ford Racing manifold is superior to the Boss, but I'm putting up pretty good stats with a conservative tune. I have no bias either way, just interested in knowing what works the best. If one setup is better than the other, then I'm all for it. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for any input. BTW, I purchased all of my mods from AM, so I'm a huge fan of what you guys do.
@americanmuscle
10 жыл бұрын
nate20e First of all, thanks for the continued support Nate- we definitely appreciate and value your business! As for the Manifolds and power numbers, it sounds like you are doing pretty good given the mods you already have in place. Keep in mind a dyno is nothing more than a tuning tool and there are a lot of variables, so with that said a lot of them are going to read differently. The Cobra Jet manifold has been proven over and over again to outperform the Boss manifold not only on the dyno, but also at the track- Higher peak gains without giving any torque up usually translates to better E.T's at the strip. Now the big question is- is it worth it? Well that's entirely up to you. Its not like you are going to see 30+hp gains with switching from the Boss to the CJ, but I'm positive you will see an increase overall. And now that they have been out for a little while, you can actually find a used CJ manifold, if your lucky. As for the TB- if you are truly on a budget, you could always start with a factory GT500 TB until your ready to step up to a twin 65 or Monoblade from Ford Racing. And now there are a bunch of intake options available, 2 of which we carry- the Ford Racing and JLT. So there is a lot to think about, but if even have any more questions feel free to give us a call or just let me know here in the comments! Thanks again for watching! -Justin

Not at all Bman! I think alot of people give the MT-82 a bad rap. Truth is we put over 700hp through one with project black out and countless drag strip beatings and it hasnt skipped a beat. Project MMD is also cranking out some serious power on the stock Trans/Shifter/etc and it feels rock solid. My car see's numerous 8k RPM blasts and goes into gear every time with no issues or lockouts. I have a Barton shifter and bracket which helps in my opinion, but overall I feel the hate for this trans is often times blown out of proportion. (Until I blow mine up, then I'll hate it...haha). Justin - I had (sold) a 2014 GT Track Pack car too. I found that even after adjustable lwr control arms, pan hard bar, FPP GT500 lwr relocation brackets & lower rear springs the rear end would not stop it's hopping. This is with a stock engine, I'd be interested to see if you have any control issues with that rear end.
@americanmuscle
10 жыл бұрын
Hey David- that sounds like an all too common thing with these cars but 9 times out of 10, the parts you added should help eliminate wheel hop all together. When I first got my car the wheel hop was BRUTAL, but honestly most of it went away when I switched out the stock springs/dampers for the Koni/Sr setup. Adding lower control arms eliminated it completely. A lot of times people say the Upper & Lower control arm combo is what will really dial a lot of wheel hop out, but like I said, it seems like everybody's car reacts differently. Thanks for watching David! -Justin

Whats up smokeup! My rev limiter is currently set at 7950RPM and believe it or not the car wants to keep pulling! Thanks Chris! As for the show, the pre-registration is closed so now you will just have to register the day of the show, which is very easy. @americanmuscle

Thanks Bill and no other issues to speak of really. You do have to re-pin the throttle body wiring to fit the GT500 Throttle body, but other than that everything else is pretty straight forward. Since we shot this video, both JLT and Ford racing have produced Cold Air Intake setups that will make this more of a 'plug and play' install. Hope this helps! -Justin

Hey Justin, I'm a big fan all of your project cars but I love this one the most because it has nearly the exact same direction I'm trying to go with my 2014 5.0 track pack. If you don't mind I have a question regarding the CJ intake manifold, the amount of money it cost for the CJ intake/ throttle body/ and CAI are the power gains worth it rather than just a bigger throttle body? My dream one day is to have some form of forced induction but I"m still skeptical on what kind it will be. I already have a C&L 95mm CAI with a 93 octane Bama tune and I'm not really on a budget. I change my mind like eight or nine times a day what to do and any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
@americanmuscle
9 жыл бұрын
Timothy Back Thanks for watching and Good question! The short and easy answer is yes, the Cobra Jet setup will make LOADS more power than just upgrading your factory throttle body and its not even close. Sure the total cost is going to be more, but sometimes HP doesn't come cheap, especially if you are looking for more power naturally aspirated. My suggestion is that if you are really focused on eventually going forced induction I would hold off on any crazy 'Naturally Aspirated' mods (like the CJ setup here) and save your money to put towards that blower or turbo setup. Otherwise you'll be spending money on parts that you may eventually be taking off anyways so it might not make a lot of sense. Hope this makes sense! -Justin

hi justin, I am one of many followers of AM and I've seen all your videos and followed barias ideas in my 2005 mustang v6 but now ask advice if you put a turbo or super charger, which is better? I want the super charger but they have so many to my model !!! :)
@americanmuscle
9 жыл бұрын
Jacinto Hernández First of all thanks for the support, we really appreciate it! As far as the power adders are concerned it really is up to you. I think you will find more 'off the shelf' supercharger options for your V6 compared to turbo kits, so it would probably be a little easier going in that direction. From there its all about what kind of power levels you are trying to achieve and what power adder will best fit your driving style or goals. A turbo will typically have a small amount of lag before coming in strong and producing big power all the way to redline. You'll also find power delivery to similar with centrifugal blowers (vortech, procharger, etc.). Finally you have positive displacement blowers or Roots style blowers that give instant power. Ultimately both a Supercharger or Turbo will produce more than enough power to test the limits of your 4.0 so again you really have to figure out what you are looking to achieve and go from there. Thanks again for watching! -Justin

@americanmuscle

Good question Bamavol- Even though the track pack cars have a slightly firmer spring rate and corresponding dampers compared to the Base GT's, they can still be greatly improved in the aftermarket. I was more concerned with getting the Brembo's, 3.73 gears and the Torsen diff as I prefer backroads and corners to straight line only performance, in addition to the oil cooler, Boss rad, etc. And believe it or not- compared to Black, a white car is a dream to take care of. AmericanMuscle.com Justin, I went the same way with my 2014, Started with the TP and swapped everything out for the FR adjustable suspension. the important parts were the Brembos and the Torsen. It definitely locks the car down more but I'm feeling a lot more of the bumps on our lousy PA roads. Mine's Ruby Red and I'm thinking of going with the black strips - like the way they look in your catalog. Scott

Trevor GT Yes- the CJ intakes from Ford Racing and JLT are both available on the site as of now. But you have to keep in mind we shot this back in early 2014, so at the time there wasn't many options available. I'm stoked you are ordering the CJ stuff- you are going to love it! Are there any specific mods that would concentrate on increasing torque?
@americanmuscle
10 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, going with the H-pipe as opposed to the X definitely helps out with some low end Torque. Other than that, Nitrous or a Twin-screw would sure get those TQ numbers up, but I have no plans of doing either of those...for now. :) -Justin

Believe me Freak, neither am I- unless they are on a Shelby. But as I said in the vid, Steve from our vinyl team convinced me to give them a shot and honestly I'm glad I did. And the best part is, when I eventually want to change up the look I'll just peel them right off. Grabber stripes would definitely look awesome, what color is your car? AmericanMuscle.com I've got a black 2014, but I was originally looking to get grabber blue. Pickings were slim when I got mine, and the black car had all the options I wanted, so I figured I would try a grabber blue stripe at some point. I know it was an option on Shelbys before, and I like the color combo. I'm looking more for a larger single stripe with the smaller pin stripes on the edges. You're car is looking good so far, I look forward to seeing the next video!

@americanmuscle

Spartan Hoah currently we do not- However if you go to your local automotive or parts store you should be able to find some Valve cover breathers to work on the 5.0. Just make sure you get the right size, otherwise you'll have to drill out the rubber to make them fit over the PCV fittings. Hope this helps! -Justin

Yo Justin, always enjoy watching AM, gives me ideas for modifying when I'm ready to sup my baby (stang owner). What's the name of the machine you used to measure the HP? Any ideas for a V6? (sorry, I'll step up my game soon) Keep it up dude
@americanmuscle
10 жыл бұрын
Hey Anthony Edwards thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you are getting ready to start modding your 'Stang! The general name of the machine used to measure HP is called a 'Dyno' which is short for Dynamometer. The specific model we use is the Dynojet 224xLC. As for your V6, well you can always check out our 'Bolt-on Build Up' series back on the site. We do a V6 for every gen and give you some ideas and dyno numbers for different mods including intake, exhaust and a tune for instance. You really can't go wrong with adding some of the basic bolt-on's to increase the power and sound of the V6! Good luck and most importantly, HAVE FUN! :) -Justin

Hey Chris! If you are looking to stay with a deep tone I would definitely stick with an H pipe as Adam already pointed out. As for the muffler, I have the Magnaflow streets and the tone is one of the deepest I've heard on a Coyote. Basically anything chambered will help keep the tone down, whether its from Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Corsa, Borla, etc. Hope this helps man! -Justin

why are people staying away from the cobra jet manifold?
@ElijahWash
10 жыл бұрын
Because when you go to supercharge it or turbo no one makes the custom cupling or tubing for the wide inlet on the CJ intake.
@americanmuscle
10 жыл бұрын
Hey fiveiron- I don't know who says that? Truth is, its not a cheap setup, especially when you factor in the added throttle body/Cold air intake needed to make it all work. But the truth is the gains are ridiculous, especially if you have full bolt-on's. The boss manifold is never a bad choice, definitely cheaper and as Adam pointed out you can still easily run a Vortech/Paxton/Procharger which isn't exactly easy with the CJ manifold as of now. Hope this helps! -Justin

@OzunaTheBoss

Cars never make the power that is listed. Always expect at least a 15% decrease in power to the rear wheels. Thats why he said he was around 370rhp
@Dogboy1960
10 жыл бұрын
I can't believe you actually typed that. Did you watch the video? The intake and tune were worth an extra 49HP....... not bad at all for bolt ons and a tune. At the Crank, as rated by FORD, the engineis getting really close to 500HP now.
@americanmuscle
9 жыл бұрын
DM More Fire You are referring to Crank HP vs. Wheel HP. Fords advertised power levels are always listed for 'Crank HP'. As Ozuna pointed out, you have to expect some sort of drivetrain loss, which is typically around the 10-15% area, maybe a little more for automatic cars. Even though these cars are advertised at 420HP, at the wheels these cars typically make in the +/- 360HP Range. Hope this clears things up a little! -Justin

Kind of confused here. I don't know too too much about mods and stuff, but the dyno said 421hp. Ford says a stock gt 2014 makes 420 already.. Anyone please give me an explanation so I won't be so confused? :] Thanks!
@tjcase85
10 жыл бұрын
The dyno measures horsepower at the wheels. The engine makes 420hp which would be around 370 wheel horse power (whp) now he is making 420 whp, which would be around 460 horsepower the engine makes.
@lightbulbisbright
10 жыл бұрын
Stock it makes 420 engine horsepower, factoring in drive train/transmission loss, it makes about 380 wheel horsepower stock. So this is 40 horsepower improvement

No lol I was kidding the power that your talking about is the engine HP not at the wheels. You lose power threw drive train etc. so 420 engine HP about 360-370WHP (wheel horse power) stock
