In making Indonesian batik, there are several stages that need to be known.
The following are the stages of making written batik as follows:
1. Nyungging is the activity of drawing batik motifs or patterns on a piece of paper, because not everyone can draw batik motifs so it takes a person's special skills to do it.
2. Tracing, or tracing, is the activity of transferring the image or pattern onto the fabric.
3. Nglowong, is the process of attaching wax on the cloth with canting media, where in this process the batik motif will begin to appear.
4. Ngiseni, is the process of giving isenan (stuffing) or popular by filling with motifs on the fabric according to the motif image that has been described in the first stage. This stage also uses canting media.
5. Nyolet, is the process of coloring the parts of the motif image that are seen frequently, such as flowers, flowers and others.
6. Mopok, is the stage in covering the smeared part with wax, which is also accompanied by the nembok process or covering the base of the cloth that is not colored.
7. Ngelir, is the stage where the coloring process is carried out thoroughly on the fabric.
8. Nglorod, is the first step in dissolving the color of the night wax into boiling water.
9. Ngrentesi, giving points to the main ornament lines by using small and smooth cantings so that the results of the points made look neat.
10. Nyumri, is the process of re-covering some parts with night candles
11. Nyoja, is the process of dipping cloth in a sogan or brown color, which is the basic color typical of the original batik from Yogyakarta or Solo.
12. Nglorod, is the last process in melting the wax with boiling water.
