Thanks for this valuable info. Good advice for those considering their own claim. As you said, each state is a bit different. I use 2x4 wooden post painted white with boldly painted corner markings. Also drive an iron rebar stake into ground then attach the post to it. Helps prevent cows or two legged creatures from destroying them or making campfires. Lol !! Also recommend the discovery container be UV resistant. Look forward to #3 !! 🤠⛏⚒👍

I've done the rebar in the ground with 4x4 posts I have used. Cows are big, heavy and dumb. If they want to lean into stuff they will. Discovery containers need to be UV resistant, very true. The old black film containers used to be great but almost no one uses film anymore.

@@ChrisRalph That's true about Cows. I get the visual on them using it as a scratching post. LOL !! They crushed all my solar lights at the ranch house. I placed the lamps into a red or green plastic soccer cone, with solar cell on top, and strangely, they completely avoid them. I think they are color blind ? But maybe the shape freaks them out ? They look cool at night, but don't disturb vision for astronomy. Plastic film cans are an endangered specie these day !

Great video Chris. I look forward to your video on using the MLRS website. I’m not interested in getting a claim, just want to be sure I stay off active claims. Also like to see where past claims were located to help me look for new areas. Maybe a few words on some possible next research steps to take after finding an unclaimed area you want to prospect on the MLRS. Look forward to that video!

But if I could, your the man I would go to, I still enjoy watching your valuable informational videos. Hi Chris, been watching you and have your book. We recently bought land in Chloride AZ and are moving down there Monday. I was just wondering what you thought about the area, and where you'd be searching for placer around there? Well not locations but what would you be looking for exactly? I know the tailings have nuggets but what indicators would catch your eye for virgin dirt exactly?

That's ok. I know they were looking for stock works and quartz monzonite in the hard rock, but I was just wondering how you'd approach the washes and such. I do have a good monster 1000 and am working on the GPZ but it's a little pricey. I know it'll be worth it though.

Great topic and needed too, Chris, When someone stakes claim to a hard rock surface seam with good free mill in it, and it goes under inside your boarders, Do I have the rights to the whole seam or just inside my boarders ? Second, What do you do when your seam goes off the claim and under land not up for claim ?
@ChrisRalph

Yes, no and possibly maybe, depending on many circumstances. There is a whole field of mineral law devoted to apex laws - and there have been many, many expensive lawsuits over it. It is much too large and complex a topic to address in this type of comment answer. Do some Google research on USA apex mining law and you will be able to read for days if you wish. One of the free pamphlets I recommend in the video (links in the description) has a short discussion on it (Nevada special publication 6)

@@ChrisRalph Thank you for the reply, I will keep searching in that direction for laws in States, because apparently after Obama Congress, the Feds get a cut/ royalty of 8% to 15 and 4% for existing on their land. "Pre determined value" is a Gov railroad because a hard rock vein wont tell you what's in it and selective sampling can deceive someone on actual value from assays.

Chris, hypothetically, if my state says that I must use wood stakes painted pink to stake my claim. And I make wood stakes painted pink but I write “claim marker” on them, would going a step further to make them more visible or something like that be a possible invalidation due to improper staking?

Thanks for the info much appreciated can you please do a video or mentioned a bit on how the sale of gold were to go if one sold to a gold buyer and what percentage more or less you get of the price that gold is on the stock market? And also do you know what the prospecting laws are in Mexico for foreigners? Thanks again for sharing your knowledge hope to shake your hand one day!
@ChrisRalph

I do not know what laws would apply in Mexico. Percentages on selling to a refiner depends on how much gold you have to sell.

3 жыл бұрын
So would the price per ounce be more for 5 ounces than what you would get for 1 ounce
@ChrisRalph
3 жыл бұрын
It varies, generally what you get for 10 ounces is better than less than 10 ounces, what you get for 50 better than less than 50, etc. It does vary somewhat depending on the refiner.

I use the Gaia GPS app and their Mines and Mineral Resources map that supposedly lists all registered claims in my area. One thing I don't understand when searching MLRS is how to identify which portion of a quarter section (40 acres approx., right?) someone has claimed for a 20-acre placer claim. The maps only show the whole quarter and I think the Aliquot descriptions are the same. Where can I find that info (without going onsite)?
@ChrisRalph

The BLM office for your state will have the map filed with the claim showing where it is.

@@ChrisRalph It's a shame with all the online claim information made available by BLM that they don't show the map, too. It sounds like the only way to find a potential claim next door to another claim is to waste a lot of time going back and forth between the field and the BLM office. Isn't there a better way?

Hi Chris, Would you be able to summarize the process for selling your 'share' or 'percentage' of a jointly owned lode claim? It's just me and 1 other person on the paperwork, WA State, and i'm considering selling my portion due to relationship issues with the other owner. We don't have a shareholder agreement, simply a really vague document that was filed, stating that partner A has 60% interest, Partner B has 40% interest. That's literally all it says. Any guidance is much appreciated. Thank you.
@ChrisRalph
Жыл бұрын
Your first job is to iron out the agreement and get it well defined as to who has what rights. No one will buy anything that is sort of based on an ill-defined handshake agreement from years ago. Additionally no one wants a partner who is disagreeable and hard to work with.
@frankbush8368
Жыл бұрын
@ChrisRalph Ok I'll see if we can create some defining points in the 'shareholder agreement'. The relationship issue is breakup issues. It was my girlfriend, to shed some more light on things. Not a random person who's hard to do business with, she gets along great with people. Just not me, now.

It's a quartz crystal claim.. a pretty good one at that. Great inclusions in crystals, rare growth habits like Japan Law twinning. When she wanted to write up the 60/40 document, I could not see how that defined anything at all but I went along with it. Like 60/40 of what exactly? Any ideas on what it is you could be splitting 60/40? It does baffle me.
