Thank You. I found a Stanley 151 hanging on my wall. As a machine person, I have forgotten about it. I bought it used more than a dozen years ago. All there. Needs sharpening just the same.

Thanks for the comment. I haven't used mine in a while, but like so many Stanley products, there are some things they do very well (probably better than anything else) and worth having on hand and ready to go. I just used my Number 80 cabinet scraper for a shelf in my newest video and it was an amazing solution. Who knew tools like these exist?

See my comments below. It's an old Veritas jig that I've had since the 90's. Works well.

What bevel jig are you using? I haven't found one to fit spokeshave blades. Great videos.

Thanks for the comment. It's a Veritas model I purchased about 25 years ago. It seems similar to their 05M0210. It works well. Not much of a hassle to mount an iron and it allows for secondary and tertiary bevels.

I've always wanted a spokeshave. How much is a decent used one at a yard sale ? Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the comment. They're very useful for just the right kind of work. I spent the better part of a year looking around, finding the #51 first, then the 151. I think I paid around $20 from people that knew what they were. Personally I wouldn't pay much more without knowing it was something special. Obviously you can find things like this for next to nothing from someone that thinks they're junk, or doesn't know or care. My only words of wisdom is to make it's complete before buying. Some of those parts are not common and you could pay more for a special screw than the tool itself. I believe you can buy a cheap Chinese one for about $10. I'm still looking for a curved bottom version. Thanks again.

Would you care to tell me where you got the jigg for the sharpening the spoke shave's blade?

Thanks for the comment. Mine is a Veritas jig, either the 05M0210, or it's very similar to that one. These jigs are common, but the Veritas version is based on what's referred to as the "eclipse" style. I think because this was the name of first common one of this type. The 05M0210 is likely built a bit better than some and has micro-bevel adjustment feature (also more expensive, as you might imagine). I'm not sure all these jigs will hold a spoke shave iron, but mine does. Ironically when I tuned up the iron to my 51, I didn't even try to fit it into my jig and ended up lapping and sharpening it by hand. What a pain. Then for my 151 I gave it a shot and the jig holds it, making life much easier. I've also seen some (Paul Sellers) make a simple jig to hold it. Good luck and thanks again for the comment.

I purchased mine probably 20 years ago from a place like Rockler or WoodCraft.
