I wonder if you could generate an algorithm to balance the render of entities so that you could maximize performance. That way you have a lot more steady combat, I can only imagine this causing issues with ping, tho. hmm I suppose you could achieve the same thing with the ping as well.

Seriously, this is not even half as good as EVE Online tech. Also, he's showing demo on local subnet, with nearly zero latency, which is not the case on the internet, so the points like "Clients don't see any change" are only valid as long as latency is good. Also, he didn't mention anything about what happens if the replication server goes down. I guess everything dies?

It's a proof of concept, the point is to show how it works on a SMALL scale, things can't just be added to live servers right away

@@darthtechnologies553 what they are trying to do is not comparable to what's been done before, it's ambitious and therefore it takes time and test servers are probably the next step in the process...

@@darthtechnologies553 I don't deny that they are fondamental problems to overcome such as latency issues. I was just pointing out that your comment about textures and the size of the demo was stupid. What's been done on eve online or any other game is not at all comparable to star citizen's ambition. Baby steps.
