Normally i play everyday but now its just like meh...........i need all the UI updates. Be good to see the roadmap update in 2 days too

Replacing mag boots with mag gloves makes sense. If you think about it, mag boots in zero G would be a MASSIVE pain in the ankle, as all momentum has to go though a 2m lever arm into muscles that do nothing similar in gravity. With mag gloves, you're pulling yourself along by your arms, in a pose similar to a climbing wall in gravity.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to all those old ships getting a rework but I don't think it makes sense until they've finished work on all the ship stuff like components and the resource network. I don't think there's anything major after that so that could be the time for them to start working through the backlog.

@@scottro79 The lips on all the doorways that cause constant cargo collisions are painful. It also has that whole deck/balcony dedicated to equipment that LOOKS like it should help manage cargo, but it would be way more helpful to not have those walkways there.

They used to tell us that they were 'taking the time to get it right the first time' as recently as 2016. I'm amazed that such a large studio can move so slowly on so few fronts for so long.

I too am very surprised they're aiming at pushing Master Modes into PU in 3.23 - I expect that the flight envelopes for the non-combat, non-Sq.404 ships will be very rough on the players! 2. Economy / In-game ship prices: I have no dramas with this, whatsoever. CIG have been saying for _years and years_ that there will be future rebalancing of in-game ship prices and many ships will be substantially more expensive than they were. P.S.: Props to plaid-bracers-economy-guy .. Let's hope he is wearing a plaid or polka-dot bowtie next episode he's on! 3. So long as at least the new star map and freight elevators are in 3.23, I'm not too fussed if other things get delayed by a patch.

9:21 The radial menu will also be useful for VR, with limited buttons on VR controls, the fewer physical buttons needed the better. We know they want to do VR eventually, an this system would be good for that. I think that's why it's holographic, to be easier on the eyes in VR. With the emphasis on physical interactions, a person in VR could just reach out and personally push the in game button or grab the gun, and not even need the wheel.

I don't know if they're ever going to go far enough for you to be able to physically move your hands/arms and manipulate objects like that, as it completely changes the way the game is played and would put an even larger separation between vr players and regular players. But man I hope they do.

@@eXponentiahaving played a fair bit of VR, mixing flat screen with VR users sounds impossible to balance to me, for FPS mode on foot. Unless you have very strong VR legs and insane reaction time with your entire upper body (twisting torso around rapidly), 2d screen players will have the upper hand. And CIG have plenty of other things to do first. But outside of that I can see VR being very useful for pilots, drivers, and turret gunners.

@@RongleBringer I more see CIG implementing VR essentially the same as eye tracking, where you'd be supposed to play with a controller or keyboard/mouse and just use the headset as a monitor with the capability of moving your head to look at things. But that wouldn't be leveraging the full vr capabilities so they could do something more, but like you said I don't see a way to have it be balanced otherwise.

The ingame ship prices increase is needed for an example a reclaimer costed 15ish mil and when used solo for 5h you get 10.5 mil and that is doing the salvage claims not HH missions.

I think the way they have 0g push pull makes more sense than mag-boots as the transition/animation from the new eva to standing on a surface might look janky and the transition back equally so. same goes for going around corners, i feel like pulling yourself round by your hands will also look better than snapping round corners whilst stood up

Would be nice if the more remote loading stations had a couple size 5 auto turrets outside the pad to cover you. Get a trespassing warning while the cargo elevator is in operation. Maybe one person can man a turret so they can aim for the PIP while the auto unmanned ones only aim at the craft.

For MM in 3.23, the key, in my opinion, is ship archetypes. So that would be 5-10 minimum unique flight characteristics.

My personal thought on the sneak peek is that they may be trying to shift larger cargo ships to distribution centers and stations and using these small outposts for the small and mid range hauling ships to give them their own sort of niche.

The amount of content this patch doesn’t surprise me. Most of these are features ported over from SQ 42. As such they need them debugged and polished for SQ 42’s release. What better testing environment than the PU of SC. They need to get as many of them in as quick as possible to get as much data and debugging as they can. It may be a little delayed as they try and get them all in without having major issues that would bring back the ghost of 3.18.

Kinda fun to imagine the cargo bay exterior door opening when a hull C docks and all these lil drones come flying with cargo crates in tow to start hitching them up. Maybe an srv flies out tractoring a busted arrow behind it and while the drones load up the boxes, you have to space walk over and strap it to one of the hull C arms with a dozen mag ratchet straps cuz it's going back to hurstons shipping yards to get it's engine replaced. And the mechanic knows a guy that can get deals on engines but he lives somewhere else and you prolly gotta do him a favor if you don't wanna pay full price, etc, etc Has big "the expanse" vibes

for security on outpost while loading cargo could be armistice zone (when the planet is in a secured area. not for pyro). when servers are more stable with server meshing, ai security guards could be the solution.

Ballsy. It feels very ballsy of CIG to be making big proclamations so early in the year, contining the trend from citizen con last year. After all this time, you'd think they'd be more cautious... Which is why I'm actually kind of optimistic about their chances of getting this stuff in game. If they're willing to make these kinds of claims, they must believe they can pull it off... But we shall see!

The problem with the economy team is that it is again just three designers with spreadsheets. They can't make the game cohesive just because cohesion doesn't seem to be the priority for everyone else. There are no markers to be shared, no mining clusters, no ability to move the mined ore without a mining ship, no ai blades, no efficient missiles, no ew to counter them, no armor to make more ship roles relevant, no area of denial in general, no shared ownership, the list goes on. It seems that for the most teams the priority is to shove their feature out in somewhat single-player like playable state and then they just don't care about it for years. An economy team of three designers can't fix that

I fully agree that CIG says a lot of things with very limited follow-through so I fully expect half of these items (especially the 'harder' ones) to evaporate to some indeterminate point in the future after the next sale wraps up. Further, try to have a little perspective on the hype surrounding things like basic 'pick up thing' or 'move around without smashing in to everything and spinning uncontrollably', or 'having a minimap' features. These are all things that are needed to take SC from a worst in class experience to being at least in line with preexisting games. Other features like 'having the crosshair point where your gun is pointing' also looks like desperate feature list padding and is notable not for the achievement but that they couldn't get it done in the first eleven years of development.

i believe they said in the SCL that the current interaction system will stay in some form (and iirc the citizencon inverse kinematics showcase even showed the use of the current interaction system for the elevators)

@@rhwlol Yes, but we we also saw the new radial UI used for the hanger controls of the 890i. So I'm not entirely sure about this. Things like that could very well stay how they are now in my opion, but that wouldn't be the biggest loss.

I assume like ship elevators get a panel as the station elevators. Which i think is cooler. At least it streams in for me in usable distance sometimes, the thought menu sometimes lets me down making tge shipelevator a lottery

The menu is just a really easy intuitive way to organize the different systems. Id also love to use an Xbox controller to my tool around the verse. Combat, id still use the mouse, but the Xbox controller is good for casually traversing a station, organizing your inventory

To be honest, I am very pleasantly surprised with CIG here. They are knocking it out of the park! I am am ofcourse a bit worried about master modes in general, but I think we'll all adapt accordingly. The economy changes are very exciting. It si very basic and "hardcoded" and I expect they will be iterating on this. It's going to make the "complete my ship wishlist" less easy and keep me playing for longer. The fright elevators have a lot of potential! Being able to load vehicles in your ship without having to go planet side is going to be a huge QoL update. The minimap and starmap updates are amazing! No more having to fiddle about with the broken starmap for minutes just to find the place you're trying to get to. All in all, this patch is looking amazing. I'm a bit worrid that we don't have a working stable replicaiton layer yet, and it worries me that when it DOES release we may get a broken patch like 3.18 was. Hopefully they have learned a lot since then and we will get a more robust system in the PU.

RE: Security at small freight distribution facilities,one possibility is to have the NPC "owner", a huge corporation presumably, offer mission(s) to provide security for 1) a certain time period or kill count, 2) against a certain pirate(s)-players and/or npcs or 3) as an escort for a specific point to point delivery mission. Also, an npc criminal could seek some mooks to fill out their ranks for a particular site raid or convoy. Freighter pilots would seek to coordinate their route and timing with players holding a complimentary security mission.

okay. super excited for CIG's priority list for 3.23, but something im not seeing many people talk about is how blue ALL of the menus are. i hope in the future were able to customize the colors of the starmap, radial menu, etc. i just know im going to be tired of the color quickly with how much there is LOL

I honestly like the 0G push and pull look. In Lore I'm sure they can justify magnetic fingertips in armor, it makes more sense to me than mag boots and is more creative and original

I love seeing all this stuff come in. My prediction is that it will break the hell out of the servers. What we need the most by now is performance improvements first, to client and server FPS both. My RTX 3090 desktop and my 4080 laptop still struggle to run the game smoothly often, which is insane. Other games run at like 200+ FPS.

I'm still not 100% sold on MM, I think they're screwing over non-combat ships for the sake of improving combat. An important aspect they haven't covered yet, will we need to use the freight elevator for small items like med pends, ammo, etc? Will we be able to stow items inside of a 2scu box and then bring that box up onto the freight elevator fully loaded? Or will we have to load the items independently?

Love the summary, mike. Very helpful to send to orgmates who don't have the time to watch the full live but still want to stay updated. I love the direction cargo is going, as right now there would be no reason to use a smaller capacity ship to haul cargo when you have access to a larger one; Introducing load times really helps balance everything out.

Another way to balance them is have places that produce small quantities of high value goods, where for a larger ship, they can earn less per scu, but more per time by taking larger quantities of less valuable goods, while small ships earn more per scu but less per time for those higher value goods. Like as you get a larger and larger ship your earning per hour should increase, but it shouldn't scale linearly with scu.

I think mag boots being used in EVA are unrealistic in most circumstances because the outer layers of a hull are not going to be magnetic materials. Composites and extremely light aircraft/spacecraft grade metals like magnesium, aluminum, and titanium are not magnetic.

Also, this obvisouly means some ships that are reasonably priced in USD for their relative ingame prices will become REAL stinkers - looking at the whole Drake line here...

I think the dev comment on the cargo elevators made the point that even if manual loading isn't possible yet, they're working on giving you automatic loading as an option. I wonder if this will come at a cost but depend heavily on the type of ship you're loading to? If manual loading isn't possible, automatic loading is free, if manual is possible, automatic loading carries a charge.

I've come around on radial menus, over the years. I see that as a massive improvement over the current system, especially with it locking you to the item - The amount of times I've looked down at a water bottle to drop it, only for the menu to shift via animation, and me switch to placing it? Insane. Same goes for ship switches/buttons - "No, I don't want to unlock my exterior, I want to close it, dear god please quit switching my option on mouseover". This solves the problem by giving you a static, easily navigatable menu without any interference or misclicks from your mouse getting snagged, or an accidental shift when clicking, etc. Also, I really hope they consider solo players, when it comes to these ship prices - A Vulture is currently 1.2 million. I feel like for an introductory Salvaging ship, with 1 max crew, that makes sense. Maybe slightly higher, like the 2 million range. But I totally get their feelings on multicrew/larger ships - it should be a group purchase type of thing.

Hope they bring in aircraft carrier type hangar lifts, makes sense for having instanced hangars. They can implement these at especially main landing zones but also orbital stations and planet side medium to large outposts. This could help trading.

Two million for a small and light fighter is silly to me. If a person is starting out in a starter ship doing the low tier combat missions, it'll take an eternity just to go to the next step up. They need to fix the money exploits, not the prices. And hopefully the cargo loading area is placed in a location that makes it easy to use the ship tractor beam.

Let me know when the map is fixed and they have a better quest/job loop of repeatable quests that aren't just kill this guy in space or in a bunker, or kill 10 guys in a bunker. This is mandatory for this game to start feeling real. Also bring basic dialogue to some of these NPCs

I'd like it if they added NPC security patrolling the pad perimeter at outposts, and make it so they turn on someone if they interact with cargo that isn't theirs? Obviously the party system needs to be better to support something like this

#1 Star Maps are huge. #2 for game play Orgs need to be co-owners of ships so a non owner can spawn in to a persistant ship after a bed sleep. Phase 1 Im good with the owner only able to claim a ship that got destroyed. But a crews should be able to spawn and control a ship that is Org owned without the owner. This gameplay would allow for pseudo "flying bases".

Ever since SQ42 was announced to be feature complete it really does feel like they are finally kicking things into high gear for the PU development. Time will tell, but I'm definitely hopeful and excited. Everything they showed off at citizencon looked awesome. Now they just need to deliver on getting it implemented well.

Regarding your comment about needing 10 people to protect a load... If you need 10 people (as far as ships are concerned) to load a black cutlass, knowing the profit you will have with it, the one who is making a mistake is you, not the game in offering you the money so that those 10 have their benefit, really They don't manage your team/org well... a cutlas is for 2 pilots, so while one loads the other should be in the turret. That should be profitable.

Here’s the thing. Until there is an ACTUAL economy. Raising prices of ships is nothing but a grind extender/ incentive to pay for real ships.

I don’t know if it’s me but for the gimbal I understand that fixed weapon doesn’t exist anymore and gimbal will be the only « type » of weapon exept for Idris Ares …

Yeah, I like fixed better, gimbles miss a lot, but it seems fixed weapons are going to be removed /useless when you can just gimble the same size as fixed. Makes no sense. Really seems like they are forcing gimble on everyone to conform to their new flight model. I don't really like it.

Gimbal and fixed still exist. I think the difference was ammo capacity or fire rate. Fixed had a higher fire rate vs. gimbal being slower.

Wait so after the next patch I will need to load a whole c2 myself 😢 rip it’s bad enough spending 1 hour travelling but now I need to spend an extra 1 or 2 hours to load a ship

😂 well.... I would worry less about on patch change, and more about every login or every 30k.... MFDs still dont properly persist...

Even if the patch doesn't reset it, CIG usually recommends you delete USER folder for big patches and that will definitely reset it
