Very lovely content. I love this type of astronomy. In an era where everyone goes to astrophotography this type of content shows the depth of astronomy based on concepts and visual observations.

Even though I’m more on the photography side of astronomy, I find Tsula’s videos very informative. I love the mix of scientific content and the poetry of directly observing the night sky.

Hi Tsula I love your videos and always come away from them having learnt something new! Thank you for providing such an accessible source of information on so many different aspects of astronomy, presented in such a clear and friendly way. You’ve certainly earnt your right to the clearest and darkest of skies!

Hey Tsula - I've been surprised just how enjoyable it can be taking in the star color, and I agree, surprising how much the refractor brings this out. I've also found my little Mak to give nice views once it's had time to get to ambient. Probably, my large SCT is not as good here. Thanks for the information here.

Hey Ollie: Star colors are wonderful to observe in most any telescope. I'm not sure if you can see Pegasus in the southern hemisphere but if so, it contains a beautiful orange star, Enif. Try to see it.

Excellent video. I went to college later in life, and the section last fall over astronomy (especially stellar evolution) was what got me interested in this hobby. Still learning my way around my telescope, but I think the pinnacle of success for me would be to see an HH object visually (if that’s even possible). For now I’ll settle for the AL lunar and Messier programs. Clear skies!!

Thank you. You can definitely see some HH objects with your telescope if the sky is dark enough where you observe.

The American traditional pronunciation of μ is "myu" (rhymes with the cat-verb "mew"), with a glide between the m and u. This video does goofy things ξ with and ψ, but the rest matches the traditional American pronunciation (think fraternity and sorority names): kzitem.info/news/bejne/lJ2Xy32LrIJ7YI4

I did not know that and I have been looking for a credible source for Greek pronunciations. So, thank you for that link. The one I never knew was "xi".
@bowrudder899
14 күн бұрын
@@tsulasbigadventures There are a million videos online teaching the "proper" way to say it. The problem is for the past 200 years we have had our own way of pronouncing Greek letters in math and physics and fraternities, etc. For example, the "chi" in Alpha Chi Omega, a sorority, is pronounced with a "k" and rhymes with my, tie, pie, etc. Psi and Ksi sound identical in English: the p and k are silent, and the vowel rhymes with my, eye, bye, etc. They both sound like the word "sigh". Obviously it's not a big deal, I was just sharing how it's pronounced in American. In American, "mu" is pronounced like the first two letters in mute, music, municipal, etc.
@bowrudder899
14 күн бұрын
@@tsulasbigadventures I listened to the link again, and even they get the vowel wrong in xi, psi, chi, etc. They pronounce it like the -ee- in cheese. In American academia (math, physics, etc.) it always rhymed with bye, die, high, lie, my, nigh, pie, rye, sigh, tie, why, etc.
@tsulasbigadventures
13 күн бұрын
@@bowrudder899 OK. It was hard to hear the pronounciation of Xi which is the one I need to hear. I'll have to listen again and substitute a long "i"

Fine and diligent work - I wasn't aware of how complex star classification has become, and how badly the old mnemonic needs an imaginative update. 🙂 I must give this video a second viewing. But for now, I note that you mislabeled Polaris at 6:04 - Tsula, I'm shocked! 🙂 - and mispronounced "Yerkes" (it's "Yerks-ease" and not "Yerks"). PS: I didn't recognize the striking asterism at 1:33.

Oh dear. I have to go back and look again. I thought for sure you were going to notice I misspelled Anne Jump Cannon's last name. Here in Montana it takes 7-8 hours to upload a 4K video and it was already my second time trying. And I just hoped you wouldn't notice and you didn't but alas you noticed another mistake. Dang! I have never actually heard anyone say "Yerkes" out loud. So, sorry about that but mislabeling Polaris is awful. Should I delete this video? The striking asterism? Hmm. Maybe it's the Rho Complex? I have to go back and watch it again. I'll let you know tomorrow. If true, I feel horrible for mislabeling Polaris.
