Thank you for taking the time in your schedule to share knowledge with anyone wishing to know more about celestial navigation. i am impressed with the amount of knowledge that is available on line today due to people such as yourself taking the time to show and educate others about it. Cadets today will surely find these more easy to understand having learned theory in school, seeing your video (practical aspect) cross referencing it with your celestial navigation software. i hope it gives them (cadets) the confidence to explore it themselves. Captains will be at ease knowing officers are well knowledgeable in their work and i am certain that this skill will not be lost anytime soon. well done

The Star Finder can be made easier to use. The base plate can be labeled to show months. The transparency can be labeled with 24 hours, and with some longitude meridians (and geographic features such as the outline of the continents). Then setting the starfinder is just a few steps: pick a transparency, rotate it to the month & day, rotate it to where the relevant Zulu time is, rotate it to where your longitude is, then align the whole thing to match your True heading.

I couldn't get what u are trying to show.Star finder is used to identify a particular star from the sky whose details(SHA & DEC) are yet to be find. You decided a star and took out the Az and Alt from the Star Finder. Whereas approx Az and Alt are used in the star finder to identify a star so that you can go to Almanac to get the star's SHA and Dec.

Amit Rathi so from AZ and altitude you can identify star for that time

to find SHA and DEC of star we can find the LHA star and then finding the value of SHAof the star by computing in the formula LHA star=LHA aries + SHA star ...and then getting the value of that we can enter in nautical almanac from page 268 to find the actual SHA and dec of the star and the nameof star too.........correct me sir if i am wrong

BY using star finder we can get the name of the star and its altitude and bearing .further we start taking the bearing of that particular star to find the error or you take a the bearing of a star and unable to identify it so you can use star finder to name it

Sir why did you start counting the true altitude from outer circles
@tonythomas5249
3 жыл бұрын
Coz, we take altitude from the horizon to the celestial object. Outer circle is our horizon.
