Loved this program with a passion. Used to spend ages trying to make the ships out of lego.... I actually did a decent lego X Bomber to be fair. Used to literally wait patiently for the three ships to combine and make Dai X. Great times, the 80's, what a time to be a kid.

I hear it did very poorly in Japan, and essentially faded into obscurity there. It only really found a cult status in the UK, mostly with the Anderson crowd who probably mistook it for one of his shows. 🤷♂️

Oh my, the great memories of this show on Saturday mornings in the Uk in the 80's, when you were young. This is by far for me the best puppet series ever, I use to run downstairs when it came on. You just couldn't wait until Dai X joined together to fight Commander Makara. Its great that they released the box set, but I still prefer my old grainey Vhs ones I had originally recorded. Please no remakes leave this series be, it's a classic all by itself.

Last time I watched this in the UK was on Sunday mornings back in 1984, when the show was still brand new. Oh my days, this is memories! I knew this wasn't Gerry Anderson as he had a show around that time called *"Terrahawks."*
@creepingdread88

It was first shown in 1982. Once my favourite ever programme, Star Fleet, had ended, they showed Terrahawks. I was not happy, Terrahwaks was weird and I hated it. My Mum asked me what was wrong, because I wasn't watching Saturday morning TV. I was just lying on the floor looking at the ceiling, trying to understand why anyone would stop showing Star Fleet and instead show crappy, weird Terrahawks! haha

The Imperial Master in this series is an evil ruthless alien tyrant motivated by sheer megalomania and an unquenchable thirst for conquest. Two of his known missionaries Commander Makara and Captain Orion committed genocide and plotted the destruction of X-Bomber but the protagonists thwarted their plans meaning at some point they would stop getting squeezes off him and would be taken down the conduct code. Makara and Orion were killed as capital punishment and retaliation for the death of Doctor Benn by a fellow member of the X-Bomber team.
