@@chilldedede It's Andolf in Japanese; the CD is from Japan. It's a combination of the word "android" and "Adolf" (as in Adolf Hitler), which is why it's changed to Andross for the rest of the world.

Crazy that they still haven't topped this soundtrack. You'd think 64 or Assault or Zero would have at least come close, but it's absolutely no contest.

Starfox is one of my favorite SNES games. I've played and beaten it many times over the past 30 years, and never made the connection -- until hearing the uncompressed sound samples here -- that the voice at the end of the game, where Fox speaks to General Pepper, is the same voice that announces "Wing Damage!; Wing Blaster; Incoming Enemy!" throughout the game. All this time I thought that was the Arwing's AI system for the player's benefit -- really, it's actually Fox communicating to the rest of the team. My mind is so blown right now.

20:50 Space Armada is SO freaking EPIC. I loved it the first time I heard it. Every part of it is way too perfect, it's immersive, space-y, adventurous, but at the ame time encouraging, reminding you to keep your toes on the ground (errr Arwing) cause things are only getting tougher from there on, you're on A MISSION TO SAVE THE WORLD, not playing around.

also i do think you should credit Hajime Hirasawa since he is the composer behind the OST and actually got into a lot of dissagreements with nintendo on music ownership.

I love how the arranged Corneria theme sounds, it reminds me of a Star Fox anime during an intense action scene at the end of an episode. Pure 90s gloriousness.

@emilyblake4424

@matthewlawton9241 What's even worse of a bummer is that the original composer released this album without Nintendo's blessing, thinking he still owned the music (which was not the case). He was so frustrated/upset by this realization that he never composed again (iirc, he now runs a conservatory). It's really a shame, because there is such raw talent and influence here that he could have easily become the next Kondo or Uematsu. Splashwave has a really great doc about the making of Starfox. I highly recommend checking it out.

Theme number 35. I'm still mad that they never used this awesome song in later Star Fox games. To me that is the heart and soul of the theme itself. I've loved it in the early 90's, and still do to this day. This theme is immortal.

Nintendo goes now to orchestra and jazz, very passionless in my opinion, and yet there are no good star fox games besides 1, 2 and 64 versions.
@inarieon8531

@@hermanloud3098 I wouldn't call the new mario kart soundtracks or many others of theirs lifeless, but Pokémon and Zelda among others just don't utilise drums and bass like they used to. They're too obsessed with a "clean" sound nowadays when their most amazing soundtracks were Yoshi's Island's guitar solos or Earthbound's blips and bloops...
@hermanloud3098

@@inarieon8531 I said passionless not lifeless, by passion I mean if its like catchy, techno with a pint of rock just like in the 90s, it is not bad but it sounds very generic in my opinion... it does not sounds that "handmade" like it lacks of personality yet it has quality, like music from the movies, specially WB, it is not bad it has quality but I cannot hum or memorize the tunes and those tracks could fit into any other movie scene... I hope you get my point. Listen to music from Super Mario 3 boss battle, it almost sounds like rock but with 8bit instruments and that same tune exist in one of the modern Mario games (I don't remember which) but in a jazz and very slow version, it just lack the passion to make you feel like you are in a challenge against something aggressive but feels more like a Disney movie.

Interesting how no one really answered this before. Hajime Hirasawa was the music composer for this outstanding score, but he had conflicts with Nintendo because of misconceptions of who owns the music - answer: the company, not the creator. Hirasawa left Nintendo frustrated and they started all over again with Koji Kondo, who was involved in the sound effects of this first game. It's a shame all this, because I still think this is the best soundtrack of ANY Nintendo game. Nothing matches the gameplay like this combination.

never even knew this OST even existed in physical format, and even more gutted that I went and looked up how much it would cost to own it and OOF what a price: currently sitting nearly 300 bucks a pop just to own it. The only justification of even pursuing this is for the pure love and bliss of the original SNES Star Fox game, but man is that a real hard bullet to bite... Thanks for the upload of this, what an insane discovery, if even 30 years later after the fact.
