Jordan is a great enough player where i think both cards can hold a place in the hobby The 51 Bowman and 52 Topps Mantle? The 82 Topps Ripken or the 82 Topps Traded Ripken? 84 Fleer Update Clemens or 85 Topps Clemens? I think all of these cards will always be in demand and to each their own. For the record, i own an 86 Fleer Jordan but would love to own the Star one day too.

PSA refused to grade the Star product because it was ripe with fraud in the industry. That’s the only reason the 86 fleet has gained traction in the hobby as a whole today. PSA recently reversed their decision and that’s the only reason we’re taking about the 84 Star card market at all today,imo.

Couldn't agree more that many 2nd year cards are more desirable aesthetically than the RC's (Rose, Ryan, Munson). I was in the Fleer camp for 3 decades but have changed my opinion about which is the MJ RC to the Star 101. My change of perspective is based on the evolution of the hobby and the landscape in which it operates in. That said, they are both cool cards and worthy of collections, and like you, I don't really care what the majority thinks about it. I own neither of them anymore and prefer other MJ cards to represent him in my PC.

Like#72, Carlton Fisk in the house of cards! Busting chops is how I show I like people as well. I always say if I'm not busting your a@# then I don't like you. I usually don't talk to people that get butt hurt over a little ball busting, but people that know me and I'm friends with bust my chops at times right back. Anyways, I feel the same way about the Jordan's, who cares. I like them both, doesn't matter to me which one they consider to be his rookie. I just love cards period. Sadly, the only Star card I own is a Dr. J. All-Star and I'm okay with that. Don't think I saw many back in the day in my area anyways. Enjoyed the video John as usual, 👍👍 and ✌out

I don’t care either. totally agree about not liking a card solely because it’s a rookie card Both MJs are great cards but’s it ’s the principle of a rookie card despite the value. E.g. the 82 Topps is Ripken’s rookie & not the 82 Traded. I like the 82 Traded better despite it not being the rookie. As you stated in a diff way, most (not all) of the people saying the 86 Fleer is the rookie is because they have it & prob not the Star. & vice versa to people w/ the Star card. 84-85 Star MJ 101 has always been the rookie in my eyes. I started collecting hoops cards in early 1988. The Star cards were unicorns then. We all knew they existed but never saw them except at large shows & magazines
@MrJmangini

Yes but it isn’t always the first card. Or even the rookie year card. The people who set the rules exclude a lot of those. It is cool to get a first card. Not arguing it isn’t. I just don’t take it so seriously. And still think the price differential is a bit much.

Wrong. STAR card is 1984. Period. No room to debate. It’s his true first card. Since NOBODY still has any STAR cards, doesn’t make it not the true rookie card. Since everybody and their brother has one of those FLEER Jordan cards or stickers, so that’s the ones that gets hyped up. So few 84 STAR Cards, that the rarity prevents them from being moved. No real market exists for the STAR card of no one makes it available. I don’t care “what their worth” or how valued $ wise, the 84 STAR is unquestioned. It’s the first, so deal with it, or get challenged to defend your verbiage. We’re not talking college cards either. NBA only. I have a nice handful of PRIZM DRAFT PICK Wenbys, but didn’t go to college here, so his cards are blank shirted. I have 30 or so more, but all are NBA Wenbys, in SPURS gear. My NBA cards are worth more than the earlier cards without affiliated to league.
