Chris that was an awesome jig, and the fact that you made the knobs for the jig was even better. Great job. My favorite wood to work with is a really tough question. Heavily figured maple because I love the way it looks once finished and I like the lighter color of the wood to contrast with metal in mixed media projects. More of an industrial feel.

I’ve never worked with wood. But I do want to find some of those wood games from dollar tree because I want to make stuff with those in diy’s. You have a great shop. It reminds me of the movie The Breakfast Club when Bender that’s treated like crap by his parents getting burns with a cigar by his dad… And then the nerdy kid is like blah blah I thought it was an easy grade… And Bender says “ I take shop.” I can imagine you being that guy in high school and then this is where you ended up… Incredible! Chris my favorite wood to work with is rough cut cedar with a live edge. The contrast of the red and white is just beautiful. One of my first real projects was to fix some reclaimed dining room chairs. I used cedar planks for the seats with multiple layers of paste wax as a finish. Not only that but when you turn it on a lathe and sand it down to a crazy 1600 grit sandpaper it almost seems sinful to add a finish. Just really pretty stuff IMHO.
