Thanks! I'm too amateur a player to feel comfortable attacking a corner my opponent has staked out. Maybe I can try now!

Thanks for all this work! However it is possible to escape at 2:46 by playing O 2 and the result is better than the diagonal move which is a disaster :) PS : If we follow the alphabet it is N and not o but I don't know why there is no i on a goban...?

But it's Black's move at 2:46. I think I need clarification on the sequence you're talking about. The reason the letter "I" is omitted from the column labels is to avoid confusion with the number "1."

@@GoMagic Thx I mean if black makes a hane to kill white, white can make an attachment and get out and if black protects the cut, white hand and lives on the spot with a better result than the diagonal move (IMHO).

Oh, this is possible, but depends on the position in general. If B plays S4, W will only have one eye in the corner and will need to play clamp and run. As Vadim said, it wouldn't be able to live (locally). And even if W runs away, such variation is typically unfavourable for them, because their position will be low, forcing them to crawl along the second line.

There are actually better invasions in this shape...this ko is just one of the examples. But the rest are in other lessons of the Fearless Invasions course on Go Magic
