This was a surreal experience. First time ever. I’ve never been so nervous. I can sing a little, but singing our national anthem in front of many, in a Major League Baseball Stadium, in my Army uniform? Unbelievable. But I’m honored for having the opportunity. There was no doubt in my mind though that I wanted to do it when I was asked to, not even really realizing the full extent of that. I loved Chris Stapleton’s rendition so I’m thinking, let’s try something close to it. Not even close, haha! Couldn’t help being emotional. Recently lost another brother to suicide a few days after this recent Memorial Day. Rush of emotions was overwhelming, thoughts of my brothers-in-arms past and present, living, and dead. This one I sang from the very deepest of my heart - every strum, every note, every breath…
